After the successful delivery of the Wexford Bridge project

by a joint venture which included HBG of the Netherlands,

Ascon was established to undertake civil engineering

projects in Ireland. In 1989 HBG acquired the full ownership

of Ascon.

The Rohan building company was acquired by Ascon

in 1993, which it re-branded as Rohcon, to undertake main

building contracting. In 2004 Ascon Property Developments

was formed to manage our property development projects.

Royal BAM Group of the Netherlands acquired HBG in 2003.

In Europe Royal BAM Group specialises in construction

and property development. It operates in The Netherlands,

Belgium, Ireland, Germany and the UK. In addition, its wholly

owned subsidiaries BAM International (civil engineering

and construction) and Tebodin (consultancy) operate on a

worldwide basis. Royal BAM Group is ranked in the top ten in

the league of European contractors.

A strategic goal for Royal BAM Group, as set out in its

Strategic Agenda 2007-2009, is to strengthen the BAM

brand across Europe. In meeting this goal, Ascon Contractors

has been re-branded as BAM Contractors and its operating

companies are now BAM Building, BAM Civil and BAM

Property. While challenging, re-branding provides synergies

and opportunities to add value to the type and scale of

projects that we undertake here in Ireland.

BAM PPP and BAM Rail already operate successfully in

Ireland. We have completed three major PPP projects and

have successfully delivered rail projects for the RPA.
