1. Introduction
BALPPA is the non profit-making Trade Association which represents the interests of owners, managers, suppliers and developers in the UK’s commercial leisure parks, piers, zoos and static attractions sector.
BALPPA speaks for over 300 members – including iconic attractions such as the London Eye, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Madame Tussauds, Alton Towers and Thorpe Park – and ultimately for many millions of customers every year.

joining the Association.
Public Affairs Taking Forward BALPPA’s Key Issues
VAT•Seeking VAT cut to 5% for attractions and hotels.
•Lobbying Ministers and Shadow Ministers.
•Next step is local activity, putting pressure on MPs and targetting areas where BALPPA is strong.
Tourism •Seek greater government support for tourism sector.
•Support John Penrose ‘Seaside Towns Campaign’.
•Support Labour’s ‘Seaside initiative’.
•Target manifesto preparation.
FECs•Programme to increase profile of FEC sector and to enhance reputation among key decision makers
Gambling•Engage with Treasury on triennial review
School Terms •Avert the threat from Education Secretary Michael Gove.
•Present strong argument showing detrimental impact on tourism.
•Build a coalition against change (with teaching unions).
