Mit mehr als 3.500 Exemplaren ist die tschechische L-29 Delfin einer der am häufigsten gebauten Jettrainer weltweit. Der Prototyp startete im April 1959 zu seinem Erstflug, zwei Jahre später begann die Auslieferung an alle Staaten des Warschauer Pakts (mit Ausnahme Polens). Herpa bringt in Zusammenarbeit mit Modelyletadel die Delfin nun in drei Bedruckungsvarianten im Maßstab 1:72 heraus. Im Herstellerland selbst übernahmen die Streitkräfte mehrere Hundert L-29, während die Sowjetunion mit rund 2.000 Exemplaren der bei weitem größte Betreiber werden sollte. Auch die Luftstreitkräfte der DDR erhielten mehr als 50 Exemplare des im Betrieb kostengünstigen und bei Piloten hoch geschätzten Schulflugzeuges.

With a total of more than 3,500 units, the Czech L-29 Delfin is one of the most-manufactured jet trainers worldwide. The prototype took off on its maiden flight in April 1959, deliveries to all countries of the Warsaw Pact (with exception of Poland) starting two years later. In cooperation with Modelyletadel, Herpa is now releasing the “Dolphin” in the 1/72 scale in three livery variants. In the country where it was manufactured, the armed forces accepted several hundred L-29s. The by far largest customer with some 2,000 aircraft turned out to be the Soviet Union. The East German Air Force also received more than 50 trainers which proved to be inexpensive to operate and very popular with pilots.
