Baking, Crafting, and Knitting, oh my! A mentoring story from Fort Wayne, IN Jacquelyn (mentee) and Cathy (mentor) started their mentoring relationship in September, 2014 shortly after school started. Cathy is a retired elementary school teacher as well as a 10 year 4-H alumni. Jacquelyn had mentioned she would like to become a baker at some point in her life so they started by baking apple dumplings and then ventured into baking cookies. 2015 will bring pies! Besides baking, she is learning to knit and has spent time with Cathy at our local county fair. They attended the annual Quilt Art Show & Sale and participated in the art class offerings and the special program with Tim George, known as Mr. Etcha Sketch. Jacquelyn is very enthused to learn skills and crafts and enjoys the time away from her several smaller brothers to do “girly things.” Teachers assure us she is doing better in school with assignments and grades.
