SHORTLIST • Coriolanus
• King Henry VI, Pt. 1
• Measure for Measure
• Titus Andronicus
• Two Gentlemen of
Verona
WHAT IS BAKERSHAKE? Baker Shakespeare, colloquially known as BakerShake,
is Houston’s oldest consecu've-running Shakespeare
company, and is ran by students, alumni, staff, and
community volunteers at Rice University’s Baker Col-
lege. Every year, BakerShake members work to gener-
ate a shortlist of plays we are interested in seeing pro-
duced, and then we send this shortlist to poten'al
directors.
Any interested directors may then reserve a 'me to
pitch any shows from the shortlist that they are inter-
ested in direc'ng to the BakerShake members, who
will then work together to choose the director and
show for the spring 2015 produc'on.
WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR? Each director has an hour to pitch all shows they are
interested in. We ask that directors come with a de-
veloped vision including, but not limited to, the fol-
lowing components:
• Se4ng
• Costuming
• General set design
• Props
• Style of produc'on
• Ideas for cu4ng script to approx. 2 hours
• Es'mated budget
WHEN ARE PITCHES? Pitches are scheduled to occur on No-
vember 9th in the Baker college library
from 5p—11p. If we have enough di-
rectors respond, we also have the
space reserved November 10th. If you
are interested in pitching on of the
shows from our shortlist, contact ei-
ther Jon-Kyle Bailey or Molly Cisneros.
Please note that you only have one
hour total to pitch all the shows you
are interested in direc'ng.
CONTACT INFO If you are interested and want to reserve
a 'me to pitch, or have any ques'ons,
please contact one of the following peo-
ple:
Jon-Kyle Bailey
Molly Cisneros
RELEVANT INFO The show takes place inside the Baker
College commons, and being as such,
the stage must be func'onal within
this space while leaving the commons
in a usable state for students through-
out the day.
BakerShake is almost always done sole-
ly on a volunteer basis. It is not impos-
sible to receive financial compensa'on
for direc'ng, but such compensa'on is
very unlikely.
Regarding the content of some shows
on the shortlist and the fact that we’re
on a college campus, it could be bene-
ficial if you take the 'me to consider
how you’ll make some shows more
accessible for college students, as well
as the greater Houston area.
