Strategic Projects Consultation
In my role as Project Manager/Consultant:
Supervisory/Management Experience: Interviewed hired, trained and supervised Residency Administrative
Assistant activities for over a year; managed all aspects of the Program Director interview and pre-selection
process; created Residency Program budget; managed Multidisciplinary team of Directors, Nurses, and Physicians
over one year to complete National Breast Cancer Accreditation. Facilitated Functional Unit Management (FUM)
agreements throughout all Primary Care Departments in Napa-Solano Service area with Labor/Management
partners; prepared and submitted budget request for additional FTEs required for the Comprehensive Synergistic
Initiative (CSI) program; Facilitated union expedited bidding process in order to fill newly created FTE positions
efficiently and effectively.
Manage the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer (NAPBC) from inception to completion. In this role
I oversaw the application process for Kaiser Permanente Napa Solano, negotiated workflow agreements,
collaborated with external specialty providers (North Bay and Queen of the Valley radiation oncology), conducted
readiness assessments, conducted mock surveys, and facilitated accreditation survey. Program received 100% in all
accreditation standards; three submitted documents are now archived in the "best practices repository" for the
national accreditation program.
Facilitate the development of the Family Medicine Residency Program. In this role I coordinated the faculty
development training program, organized the curriculum committee, collaborated with Kaiser Permanente regional
Graduate Medical Education Department to write and submit the Program Information Form (PIF) to the
Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), participated in the physical space redesign (a
requirement of the residency accreditation process) and submitted the final accreditation documents, which resulted
in program accreditation with commendation.
Collaborate with Partnership HealthPlan of California and community-based safety net clinic La Clinica de la Raza
to assure comprehensive, coordinated care for underserved patients with an emphasis on providing high quality
primary care services through preferred bilingual primary care clinics and specialty services through Kaiser
Permanente.
Oversee Breast Cancer Center Programs. In this role and in response to California High Density Breast Tissue
regulatory mandate, designed and implemented physician, staff and patient education program and materials.

Patient class accepted for poster and presentation at 2014 National Breast Cancer Conference. Coordinated Breast
Cancer Awareness Fair in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Outcome: outreach to over 500 members
pertinent to screening, self-exam, preventive care, health lifestyle and resource availability.
Facilitate implementation of the Comprehensive Synergistic Initiative (CSI), a facility-wide program, designed to
improved clinical practice and enhance the patient care experience. In this role I conducted readiness assessments,
negotiated workflow agreements, created and delivered training programs (including train-the-trainer) for
physicians, managers and frontline staff, maintained project statistics and provided ongoing administrative reports.
Health Education
In my role as Clinical Health Educator:
Supervisory/Management Experience: interviewed, on-boarded, trained and supervised Clinical Health Educator
intern; managed interdepartmental volunteer breast cancer awareness committee 10 member team and all outreach
activities for over 2 years; managed extensive revision of (a) Heart Failure care management patient education
program, including implementation of new curriculum (b) Smoking Cessation program, including implementation
and evaluation; oversaw integration of health promotion activities within the Vacaville department of medicine
including managing-by-influence the practice of the physicians in the department.
Created individual and group educational programs and materials customized for the intended audience with
respect for cultural beliefs, health literacy, learning capacity and preferred learning mode.
Provided one-on-one behavioral and lifestyle counseling to patients with the goal of improving their overall health
and wellbeing through on-going support.
Researched, designed and presented community health promotion programs specific to Heart Disease in African
American women, health disparities related to the incidence and impact of Diabetes in African American and
Hispanic Women, and Engaging Patients in Self-Management/Motivational Interviewing. Provided tools and
taught techniques to shift the paradigm of the caregiver role from prescriptive to collaborative by engaging the
patient in goal setting and implementing lifestyle changes to improve health status.
Provided patient education as part of the Vacaville Flu Clinics. In particular, provided information pertinent to
Tdap vaccine and encouraged eligible members to receive the vaccine. Vacaville’s Tdap rate during the Flu Clinics
was the highest in the service area.
Conducted Kaiser Permanente’s Healthy Weight Workshop, Managing Hypertension/High Blood Pressure class,
Stress Management and Reduction class, Diabetes and Pre-diabetes workshops, and Congestive Heart Failure class.
Researched and created a new Medicine eConsult referral program for Clinical Health Educator appointments.
In my role as Health Educator:
Became an American Lung Association Certified Smoking Cessation instructor and taught Kaiser Permanente’s
smoking cessation program for over six years; consistently received commendations from members.
In my role as Health Education Assistant:
Organized, catalogued and created robust database for all health education resources available through the Health
Education Department. Kept the resources housed in the local health education library current at all times.
Served as program director for the Employee Wellness Program “Active for Life”; oversaw activities for 20 teams,
involving the majority of the medical center’s employees.
Facilitated the “drop in” flu clinic for the Napa facility. This enabled us to efficiently administer flu vaccine to
approximately 1200 members each week for the duration of the “flu season.”
