During a colloquy held by the Chamber, businessmen, MPs and Shura members: We appeal further collaboration between the Chamber and the Legislative

Al Musalam: the Legislative Authority is required to take further strides in favor of economic issues.Al Ahli: the importance of exchanging visits and conducting meetings to realize the desired outcomes.Al Khaja: the importance of accentuating old markets, upgrading tourism, and supporting entrepreneurs.

Al Shaer: soon, a friendship society with the Chamber to boost cooperation .Al Maskati: the Legislative Authority is keen on bolstering its cooperation with the Chamber.

Businessmen, Members of Parliament and Shura Councils endorsed the importance of enhancing means of cooperation between Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Legislative Authority in the Kingdom as to empower all the sectors influencing the economy and revive investment and trade in Kingdom of Bahrain. They also stressed on adopting strategies in harmony with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and integrating efforts to better serve the country and the whole community.

The businessmen called the Legislative Authority to give particular attention to economic issues, and legislate law articles and edicts that serve to advocate and accelerate economic growth in the country. While MPs and Shura members confidently affirmed the Legislative Authoritys keenness on empowering the economy and welcomed the Chamber as a partner in the legislation process particularly of law articles concerning the private sector.

Mr. Ali Al Musalam, businessman, highlighted the importance of diversifying sources of income in this dynamic era, and called the government to allocate its resources to an array of lucrative projects that serve to stimulate the economy. He also called for enhancing and promoting the attractiveness of Bahrain as an investment destination, and expressed his dissatisfaction with the strides taken by the former parliament councils to serve the private sector, and commented economy and business related issues were very modestly tackled by the former parliament councils, and I believe the current council should address these issues more comprehensively. He added I am optimistic about the current Members of Parliament, as they have demonstrated strong willingness to revitalize the private sector and the economy as a whole through the legal tools and influence they possess as MPs.

Following Mr. Al Musalams train of thoughts, Mr. Nasser Al Ahli, a businessman, said besides their main responsibilities and objectives, I believe MPs can also play major roles in enhancing the robustness of the economy by promoting the investment environment of Bahrain, and encouraging trade between Bahrain and other friendly countries during their frequent visits to other countries.

Mr. Osama Al Khaja, a businessman and Member of Parliament, proposed enhancing the efficiency of communication between the Chamber and the Parliament Council, and integrating efforts towards supporting Bahraini entrepreneurs, the development of the old markets, and the upgrading of tourism in the country.

Mr. Khalid Al Shaer, Member of Parliament, confirmed the Councils willingness to empower the companies in Bahrain, particularly small and medium sized, as they comprise 90% of all companies in Bahrain and serve as a stimulator to the economy. He also said a friendship society between the Parliament Council and Bahrain Chamber is underway, which will definitely enhance the effectiveness of both parties, and enable them to better serve their purposes.

Chairman of Shura Councils Financial and Economic Affairs Committee Mr. Khalid Al Maskati wrapped up by affirming the Legislative Authority believes in the major role played by the Chamber as a representative of the private sector, and is very keen on enhancing its cooperation with the Chamber and considering its viewpoint in legislations related to business, trade, and investment. He concluded the economic aspect is of fundamental concern to the Legislative Authority, in light of the new economic trends in the region and the world, we are aware of the importance of diluting the reliance on natural oil and gas as a source of income, and promoting diversification of sources of income by empowering the various segments of the private sector.
