Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta unanimously re-elected as President of Badminton Association of India (BAI) for another Term of four years w.e.f. June 13, 2014. Dr. Gupta is also Vice President of Badminton Asia Confederation and Executive Council Member of Badminton World Federation. He is also Vice President of Indian Olympic Association and President, U.P. Olympic Association.

Badminton Association of India (BAI) President Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta announced a cash prize of Rs 40 lakhs for the Indian Women's Team that created history by winning the Bronze Medal in the 2014 Li-Ning BWF Uber Cup Finals. "The Women's Team has made all of us proud with the way they played last week. The Badminton Association of India is providing the best of facilities to the players to perform on the international stage and the cash prize is just a part of our commitment towards the players," Dr Gupta added.

31-12-2014 : BWF Ranking
India’s leading male Shuttler Kidambi Srikanth jumped from 47th Rank to take a career-high 04th position in 2014 as per BWF Rankings. Beating the five-time All England Champion and World Champion Lin Dan of China was outstanding performance.
With this move, the 21 year old Srikanth became only the third Indian to break into the Men’s Singles top-five World Rankings. Legendary Praksh Padukone (No 1) and Pulella Gopichand (No 4) had earlier been in the Top five.
2014 has been a good year for Saina Nehwal, 24 year old India Icon, started the year from World No. 9 but climbed up to No. 4 in the BWF Women’s Singles Rankings.
