Really every week is Educa on Week at Baden Powell College. Early Act and Biggest Morning Team I am delighted to see that members of Earlyact are involved in the annual College Biggest Morning tea to support the Cancer Council. This is a school project and is one of the many ac vi es that our student leaders decide to do as part of their service through Earlyact. Baden Powell College Supports the Biggest Morning Tea
Let’s get together for a cancer-free future This Thursday Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea will be held at the Derrimut Heath and Tarneit
Campus on Thursday 24th May.
This morning tea is a fantas c way of raising much needed funds for the Cancer Council to
help them with their research and in trying to find a cure for this most hideous
disease. Unfortunately this disease knows no boundaries and can affect anyone at any
age. By helping the Cancer Council will only increase the chances of finding a cure or
improving the treatments that cancer pa ents have to endure. This will in turn help to
prevent long term side effects that can be caused by the treatments. Please help us raise as
much money as possible.
Our wonderful Earlyact Student Leaders will be running a stall for the students on the day, so
can you please bring along food for the stalls and money to buy the yummy treats. We are
seeking dona ons of small cakes and slices that the
students will be able to buy (up to 50 cents per
item). Small items will be greatly appreciated so
there will be no slicing required. Our Student Leaders
will sell the donated goodies at recess and le overs
at lunch me. Sugges ons of small cakes are – pa y
cakes, rumballs, marshmallow cones, honey joys,
chocolate crackles, toffees, slices and biscuits. We
are aware that there are a significant number of
students who do suffer allergies to a variety of
different foods, nuts being one of the key ones, we
do emphasise that you must label the items with
the ingredients. It would be appreciated if you could
not use any products containing nuts, or even such
things as peanut oil. Please ensure your child is
aware of what they can and cannot eat. Don’t forget
to send coins along for your child’s purchase on
Thursday.
Thank you for your support. Karen Jefford

C elebrating O ur W riting S uccess The Woods by Hiruki DEK
Have you ever been totally and completely lost before? I’m lost in the woods. I was going to get out of the woods but the sunlight bounced off the trees and it blinded my eye. I walked backwards then I was in the middle of the woods. When the sun went down the trees started to howl and the fear started to grow inside me. I wanted to scream but no sound came out of my mouth. Sadly when I stepped backwards I fell in a hole. The hole was pitch black. Spiders kept crawling and surrounding me. I gave all the energy I could give and I jumped as fast as a bolt of lightning. Faster than a blink, I was in another hole. My brain was going ot explode, this is outrageous! I fell in a hole, I got out and then fell in another hole. I knew the woods was always haunted. I dug as much as my li le hands could dig. Two hours later y head started swea ng like there was a flood on my head. The smell of the sweat made the wolves a racted to me!I was so scared that I screamed as loud as I could, but no one could hear me. My voice was gone, I couldn't scream for help I was in a s cky situa on. The wolves were ready to eat me. Suddenly a cold breeze took all the sweat from my body (and the sweat flew away). Now it was my chance to run away. I ran as fast as my li le feet would go. When I was running there was a li le light. I ran to the light. Finally I got out of the woods. I will never ever go to the woods again. Thank you for reading my story, I hope you enjoyed it. Hiruki

Next Parents and Friends mee ng is on Monday 18th June at the Tarneit campus at 7pm, all welcome.
NUDE FOOD TUESDAY NUDE FOOD TUESDAY NUDE FOOD TUESDAY
Nude food Tuesday is when all the students
around the school will try to bring their
snack and lunch in containers, instead of glad wrap, foil,
plas c bags and other types of li er. If it is a Subway Day we
shall do the Nude Food the day a er, on the Wednesday.
At the end of every Tuesday the teacher of each class will calcu‐
late how many students brought in containers. The class with
the most students who bring in the most containers for the
whole month will win a reward at the end of that month. Prizes
will be awarded according to each year level. The reason we
are doing Nude Food Tuesday is to reduce the li er around
our school. Please help support our environment and keep our
school grounds clean.
We hope the students have enjoyed their Subway lunches and shopping at the stalls this term. Our next treat will be the opportunity for the Derrimut Heath campus to order Tony’s Pies, just in me for the cold weather. Tarneit campus will enjoy chocolates and have the opportunity to order Tony’s pies next term.
This year we have special treats available for the chocolates, instead of the usual Freddos. The cartons will be available for the Derrimut Heath campus next term. Please don't forget to order your Entertainment books so that you an enjoy great discounts for your family.
