Back on Track products evolved from a combination of ancien Asian healing methods, modern scientific findings and skilled textile productionleading to a fabric of polyester with a ceramic powder melted into the threads. The ceramic reflects body heat as an infrared wave, a form of energy that has a documented pain relieving effect. This reflected heat can reduce inflammation, ease muscle tension, increase blood circulation and hasten healing.

The Ceramic Fabric

The Swerea Institute took the following picture of one of the Back on Track ceramic fabrics with an electron microscope and made an X-ray analysis of the white particles. The white in the black threads is the ceramic.

Comment from the Swerea Institute:The picture shows the fibers in a cross section. The bright part around the fibers is the epoxy plastic in which the fibers are imbedded. The enclosed light particles can easily be seen in the darker fibers. The particles’ composi-tion of aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide shows that there is mineral – alt. ceramic particles.

Behind the ProductA blind clinical study was independently conducted at a riding school on horses with chronic back problems and they achieved a 50 % improvement of the movement capability after three weeks with Back on Track.

Only two horses during the last 34 years have won the Trotting Triple Crown award. Windsongs Legacy 2004 and Glidemaster 2006. Both had been using Back on Track to recover between the three victories. Only eight horses have ever won the Trotting Triple Crown and 25 % of those have used Back on Track to recover. Many of the worlds most famous horse people have lined up behind Back on Track during the few years it has been on the market : Beezie Madden, Chris Kappler, Ludger Beerbaum, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, and even the Riding Police Force in Sweden. It was in a country like Sweden, where safety comes first, that this unusual product was developed for the horses safety.

Back on Track is a one-of-a-kindmuscle- and joint protection primarily to be used on humans. The technique is based on the age-old knowledge of using warmth in order to alleviate pain and ache. The material consists of polyester or poly-propylen, containing ceramic powder. The ceramic reflects the body heat in the form of infrared light, heat energy, and the warmth it produces increases the blood circulation in the area covered by the protection. The warmth increases the blood circulation in the smaller vessels and speeds up the healing process. It also relaxes tense muscles. The white ceramic powder, invisible and impossible to feel, is melted into the fabric of the bandages.

Snorri has been working full time breaking in and training horses since 1989 in both Germany and Iceland. In Landsmot 2008 he won the 150 meter pace and in Landsmot 2006 he won in Four Gait Horse.

About Back on Track, Snorri says:“I use Back on Track both before and after riding. I usually lunge the horses with the rug on, leave them with the rug on for about thirty minutes and then start working them harder. By then, Back on Track has done its job for the muscels and the horses body is prepared for hard work. I also use the rug and the quickwraps after riding, to keep the horse from getting cold too fast.”

Snorri Dal, Member of the Icelandic National Team.

Einar Öder Magnússon Einar is one of the leading breeders in Iceland and is also General Manager of the Icelandic National Team. He has been using Back on Track for many years, both for himself and his horses.

Einar says: “I have to be able to perform in diffe-rent types of hard physical work. I therefore use Back on Track wrist brace, neck brace and knee brace and I feel much better. I have been using Back on Track hook brace for two years on a horse that has been affected by plaice. He is a comp-letely different horse today than he was before.”

How it worksThe easiet way to build confidence in the product is to use it on swelling (oedema) of a joint or horse leg and follow how the swelling decreases in size after just a few days. Most often Back on Track is used over night but if still some swell-ing remains in the morning, it is good to remember that when we ourselves produce more heat by moving around, also more heat is reflected and we can master the remaining swelling of the leg, if any.

Form and functionsIt functions like the thin aluminium blankets that you can find in ambulances. When you sit on such an aluminium folio in the snow you still feel that you are still warm because the metal reflects your own body heat, but you can not wear aluminium clothes since the moisture can not evaporate.

The ceramic powder consists of metal hydroxide that reflects the heat in the same way as the aluminium folio and the moisture goes out in-between the ceramic powder. You will get a dry heat. The heat that is reflected is canalized within the far-infrared wavelength, a wave length that is easily absorbed by the body (remember that all animals release infrared heat).

Infrared energy is absorbed most easily by water. Think of the sun during a spring day when only your body becomes warm and not the chair you are sitting in. This is because the body contains water and the chair does not. The infrared heat increases our blood circulation and helps in alleviating inflammation.

Uli Reber on the horse Dröfn from Litla-Moshvoli at the German Championship 2008.

“Our top horses are now using Back on Track. We are convinced

and enthusiastic by the result.”

Uli Reber

“For us, the horses well being and health are the most important thing in the daily work. We have used the Back on Track products during several years and they help in a preventive aim to hold the horses fresh and healthy so that they can deal with the trainings and competitions.”

Anna and Magnus Skúlason, multiple World Champions, Sweden.

By the age of 19, Daniel had already won Five Gait at Landsmot 1994. He also has six world championship titles for breeding horses.

About Back on Track, Daniel says: “I use Back on Track both before and after riding. I mainly use the blankets and I feel a big difference. The muscles become softer and smoother after using Back on Track.”

Daniel Jonsson, three times member of

the Icelandic National Team.

Dr. Susanne Braun has used Back on Track’s products for herself and for minor treatment of horses during the last five years. I recommend Back on Track’s Quick wraps to horse owners that are not used to bandage the legs the regular way. There is no risk with these that they are incorrectly applied to the leg. I believe it is most important to use the Quick wraps during the winter when it is cold and takes longer time for the legs to become warmed up. Regarding the blanket, it is perfect to put on the horse two hours before riding. It corresponds to 30 minutes of warming up exercise and the horse’s muscles are better prepared for work.

“I have used the hind leg protections for treatment of spavin with good results. We have also detected that Quick wraps function as an excellent treatment of “grease heel” since the wraps protects the pastern joint and undesirable dirt is held out from the greasy wounds.”

Dr. Susanne Braun comes from Germany. She is now resident on Iceland and has been the National Team ‘s first veterinarian on the World Championship 2008 and 2009.

Nicola Bergman-Kankaala is the most successful icelandic horse rider in Finland. She won Gold Medal in World Championship in 2003 in “5-walking”. She is a regular user of the Back on Track products.

“It is important that my horses are always ready to perform at their best. In a competition the horses are ridden more than once and it is important that they get relaxed and can recover in between. I have good experiencesfrom using Back on Track in this purpose. I use both Back on Track legwraps and blankets after performances and when the blood circulationincreases the muscles and joints quickly recovers. The horses get smoothand relaxed and ready for quick returns to the track. Back on Track helps my horse to perform at the top!”

Jòhann R. Skúlason, current world champion in Four gait combination and three times worldchampion in Tölt.
