Background Pastor Joseph Nsubuga and his wife Margaret responded to God's calling to spread the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by starting a church in 1993 in Komamboga, a suburb of Kampala city in Uganda. They started from a humble beginning of door to door preaching and after beingjoined by a few followers from the community, the ministry made its first home in a rented, deserted house at a rate of shs 5,000 per month. After about one year, the owner of the deserted house evicted the upcoming church but the Pastor and the other followers did not lose hope. They went on to rent a piece of land on the same village at rate of shs 20,000 per month and the Pastor got a vision to establish a permanent sanctuary for the ministry in this place. The ministry has grown from 20 members to about 500 strong believers, and changed from makeshift structures to permanently constructed structures, like the office block which has been completed. Plans to construct a permanent church building are underway. In December 2001, Pastor Joseph heard a voice from the Lord "Be strong and of good courage" (Joshua 1-9) He heard this voice as he sought to minister in one of the churches in Uganda. Like in athletics where the audience cheers the athletes against giving up, so the Lord told Joseph to do the same for his people in this generation. The Lord further spoke to Joseph and told him " My people are weary, tired and weak but go to them, encourage and strengthen them to wait upon me and put their trust in me, for I am still their God" Heeding this voice by Pastor Joseph was the beginning of Ambassadors of Encouragement Ministry. Ma r k c t Pluce Evangelism, EnterpriseDcvelopmcn j & Incom c Cencration:Market place ministers arc undergoing training to beublo to spread the gospel of encouragement at theirplaces or work and among the general public wherethey live. Through the department or women in the.hurch, women have been mobilized and equippedwith the enterprise development and businessplanning skills which have enabled them to set upincome generation activities at group and householdlevels.
