Backgroundjangan Sekali Kali Melupakan Sejarah, that is declared by Ir. Soekarno the first President of Indonesia in His Speech on August 17th 1966. In fact, many of Students in Pontianak do not know their local figures. It's because of learning materials that is given unequal in introducing the figures or heroes to the students in Pontianak. Generally, textbooks for the students filled by prominent national figures like Tuanku Imam Bonjol, Prince Diponegoro. Yet, no western Kalimantans figures include in the textbook. So it makes a lot of students do not know the figures such as Sultan Hamid II, Sultan Ibrahim Mulya Sambas, Panembahan Hamid Landak and other who were victims of Japaneses homicide in the struggle for independence. Whereas, it is clearly as stated by Ir.Soekarno, we must not forget history. One cause of this problem is not available of teaching materials to inform students about the local figures. Because of the references to figure these figures are difficult to find. Thus the writer wanted to create teaching materials containing such prominent figures as an attempt to introduce to students their local figures.

Research ProblemIn this research the writer found that many students did not know their local figures or heroes.
