Thank you:

• Linleigh Anderson for donating

décor and special trinkets for the Matric Farewell.

• Roché den Dunnen and Wimpy

Hoedspruit for donating a meal to our Grade 3 class for winning the PA Spring Walk fundraising com-petition.

• All parents who donated items for

the drama props room.

• To all parents and members of

the public who supported our College production, Time Warp,

last week.

Our Grade 4 class spent two days exploring a

part of the Kruger National Park this past week.

They were very fortunate to spot a wide variety

of animals and birds. No doubt the experience

has broadened their knowledge of the bush.

The annual College Awards Evening was held in the Earth Circle on Friday 14 Octo-ber. Mr Tebogo Mametja delivered the keynote address and assisted in the pres-entation of the trophies. Subject awards were presented to all of the top performers in Grade 12. A number of special awards were also presented. These special awards included The Southern Cross Award pre-sented to a learner who exemplifies what a Southern Cross learner is expected to be. This year Gawaine Evans (Grade 11 seen in the photo right) was the recipient of this award. The Smith Family Tenacity Award presented to a learner who has succeeded despite experiencing significant adversity was presented to

Elizabeth Tseka (Grade 11, top left). Robyn McDonald (Grade 11, bottom right) received the Thomson “Pay it Forward” Award presented to a learner who has offered their time to work actively for the welfare of others, human or otherwise. The Dold Family Leadership Trophy was awarded to Devon Leibach, our 2010 Head Boy (bottom left). Other special awards included the EarthEthics Environmental Trophy which was presented to Vincenzo Carrozzo (Grade 12); the Girardin Family Cultural Trophy presented to Gregory Anderson (Grade 11); the de Boer Drumming Trophy, for a senior learner who has contributed significantly

to the success of drumming at SCS, presented to Vincenzo Carrozzo (Grade 12); the van Dyk Learners’ Grade 12 Learner Trophy presented to Precious Ratshana this year; the Rudi Clarke Sportswoman of the Year Trophy present to Shannon Thomson (Grade 12) and the Neil de Boer Sportsman of the Year Trophy presented to Tony Mokoena (Grade 11).

Our Grade R class has started wearing the school

sports uniform on Fridays to get them used to

wearing uniform. This will ease them into wearing

full school uniform in Grade 1 next year. They all

look very smart in their new uniform and seem

excited at the prospect of being in “Big School”

next year.
