Purpose

This guide is designed to give users of SVRIS a step by step guide to installing the necessary software for using SVRIS BA. It also provides solutions to common problems within the troubleshooting section.

These instructions are for SVRIS BA only. SVRIS BA requires Windows 7/8/10 and latest version of Internet Explorer (IE) that your Operating System supports. Edge, the browser available with Windows 10 is NOT supported by SVRIS. If you are a Windows 10 user you must use Internet Explorer as your browser to access SVRIS.

If you are using an Apple product, you must use the Classic SVRIS user guide (Downloading and Installing the Citrix Receiver). If you must use a browser other than Internet Explorer, you must also use the Classic SVRIS user guide (Downloading and Installing the Citrix Receiver). Contact the Help Desk to have your account activated for Classic SVRIS.

If your office requires an IT staff person to install software or modify your system, give this document to your IT staff.

Install SVRIS BA Prerequisites

1. Netsmart BA Setup Wizard – Windows 7, 8 or 10 required Caution! These instructions can only be used with Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10. If you use a non-Windows operating system or a browser other than IE, you must use the Classic version of SVRIS. Please contact WI Help Desk at 866-335-2180 for further assistance.

1. Go to https://vitalrecords.wisconsin.gov/

2. Click on ‘Click here to run the SVRIS BA Setup Wizard’ and click ‘Run’ in the far right cell across from the SVRIS BA green button.

3. If you receive the below message, click ‘Run’



4. Read the license terms and conditions and check the “I agree to the license terms and conditions” box and click ‘Install’

5. Select Close button to complete installation.



2. Add the site to your trusted sites - Internet Explorer required

Caution! You must use the latest version of Internet Explorer your operating system supports. Windows 10 users please see the section on Finding Internet Explorer on Windows 10. Then continue from here.

These instructions allow you to access the BA version of SVRIS which can only be used in Internet Explorer (IE). Google Chrome, Firefox, etc. cannot be used to access SVRIS BA. If you use a non-Windows operating system or a browser other than IE, you must use the Classic version of SVRIS.

1. Click on Tools, click on Internet Options, Click on the Security tab, select Trusted sites,

and click ‘Sites’ button



2. Verify the below URL is listed correctly and click the ‘Add’ button and click ‘Close’

3. Click ‘OK’ on the remaining Internet Options window

3. Log into SVRIS



Finding Internet Explorer on Windows 10 1. If they say they are already in IE, be sure have them describe the icon that they are clicking on. It should look

like this:

If it does, no need to go any further.

2. In the lower left hand corner there should be a text box immediately to the right of the Windows Start

button.

It may not say exactly what is shown. If not, it will have the word “Cortana” in it somewhere.



3. Have them left click in that text box and key in “internet explorer” but, DO NOT hit enter.

4. Select “Internet Explorer Desktop app” at the top by left clicking on it. This will open IE.



5. To pin IE to the Task Bar, right click on the IE icon in the task bar and click the “Pin to taskbar” menu item.

6. Have them close IE to confirm that the IE icon stays on the Task Bar.



TIP for step 7 or step 8: If they do not see the menu (i.e. File, Edit, etc), have them do the ALT+T key sequence.

This will drop down the Tools menu. If the Tools menu doesn’t drop down, it means 1

of 2 things:

1. They are NOT in IE.

2. IE lost focus. Meaning it isn’t the application receiving the keystroke.

7. If this is a brand new machine, continue the setup like normal.

8. A machine that got upgraded from an older Windows version to Windows 10. Just verify that the site didn’t

get removed from Trusted Sites.



Troubleshooting

NOTE: Reboot your computer if it has not been rebooted recently.

1. Error Issues during Log In

1. “An error occurred in the application you were using” OR “Application Type Disabled” error (as seen under More Information)

1. Validate step 2 above is complete and the URL appears in your trusted sites

Click on Tools (or the icon), click on Internet Options, Click on the Security tab, select Trusted sites, and click ‘Sites’ button



2. If you still receive the error after validating the site is listed in Trusted Sites zone, then follow the below insturctions to enable Loose XAML and XAML browser applications settings

1. With Trusted Sites zone selected, click ‘Custom level…” 2. Validate both Loose XAML is Enabled and XAML browser

applications is Enabled

2. PDF Viewer Control error 1. If login fails and you receive the following error message:

"Exception: An error occurred: the type initializer for…”



2. Click Help (or the icon), click About Internet Explorer, validate 64-bit

Edition is not shown

3. Switch to 32-bit Edition of Internet Explorer

1. Right click on the desktop.

2. Click on New, and then click on Shortcut.

3. Once you click on Shortcut, you will get a box as Type the location of the item.

4. Type the following command "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

4. If the above solution does not work, download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package at http://www.microsoft.com/en- us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=5582

5. Try putting both http://vitalrecords.wisconsin.gov and https://prod.vitalrecords.wisconsin.gov in trusted sites.

3. Presentation Host Error or “the program starts to download, but continues to spin and spin and nothing happens”

If error message is received it looks like this:

1. End Presentation host process

1. Select CTRL + ALT + DELETE 2. Select Start Task Manager 3. Click on Processes tab 4. Select Presentationhost.exe process and click End Process

2. Update your computer’s clock to the current time zone, date and time. Be

sure the clock is set to the correct hour and am/pm indicator. 1. Go to Start menu, Control Panel, Date and Time

5. Start Internet Explorer from the desktop (not the tile interface) if using Windows 8

4. /VR Web or “…Run time error” – red font with tan background

1. Go to vitalrecords.wisconsin.gov and bookmark the page and remove old bookmark

2. Make sure your user id is 16 characters or less. If you have created an id with more than 16 characters, you will need to create a new id with 16 characters or less.

5. Secured Fault Error

More Details in the error message will say: “Message: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail.”

1) Verify time zone, date and time. 2) Disable your web scanner (ex. Webroot), login to SVRIS, then re-enable your web scanner.

6. System Level Error

1. System level error occurred while verifying trust 0x80096001 is due to lack of administrative rights to your computer - Contact your usual IT support

7. IE – Flashing screen 1. If you experience a flashing screen, enter CTRL + ALT + DELETE and shut

down your computer 2. Once it is rebooted, add the site to your trusted sites using step 2 under

Install SVRIS BA Prerequisites above

8. Clear Cache with MAGE Utility 1. Go to the SVRIS login page (vitalrecords.wisconsin.gov) 2. Click on SVRIS BA link to access log in page for BA 3. Click on “Running Multiple Versions of VR” box 4. Follow instructions provided

9. Reboot your computer

1. If none of the above instructions have resolved your issue, reboot your computer and try again.

2. Appearance Issues

1. Appearance of drop downs Font color or the fill color of drop downs are too close together or difficult to read

Windows 7 instructions:

1. Right click on the Desktop 2. Select Personalize 3. Click on Window Color 4. Adjust the colors to your preference for the font under the “Color” menu and

fill under the “Color 1” menu 5. Click OK

2. Multiple roles, can’t select other roles (IE 10) 1. If you use Internet Explorer 10, you have multiple roles and cannot select the

other roles whether by clicking or arrowing, then you may need to enable compatibility view in Internet Explorer.

2. In Internet Explorer 10, click the compatibility icon or select Tools menu,

Uninstall or Repair BA Setup

1. Uninstall Instructions & BA Install Wizard Repair

Note: If user already has run the installer and tries to run it again on the same machine, the following message box will appear.

1. If the user selects Repair, the install will run again.

2. If the user selects Uninstall, an uninstall process will initiate and all software installed will be removed.
