Greetings to the conference.

The 2nd Joint Meeting of Veterinary Science in East Asia will

be held from April 25-27, 2019, at the New Millennium Hall, Konkuk

University, Korea. A memorable 1st joint meeting was held at Seoul

National University last year and all the participants from Taiwan, Japan,

and Korea discussed common recent issues of veterinary medicine. I

think this will be a good opportunity to introduce Konkuk University to

participants from Taiwan and Japan. This meeting will be the last spring

conference for KSVS, and our next joint conferences will be in Japan,

Taiwan, and Korea in regular sequence. By holding joint conferences in

these three countries, we are aiming to give opportunities especially for

students and junior scholars to make presentations in English.

A special lecture by Dr. Hirofumi Kugita (Regional representative, OIE

Asia-Pacific) on the future of veterinary education and research has been

scheduled. In addition, Avian influenza, Conservation and management

of wild animals, Toxicosis in animals, Bovine luekemia, African swine

fever, Artificial Intelligence for Medical Use and the Situation of North

Korean livestock will also be discussed. Two fifths of the meeting will

be scheduled for oral and poster presentation by students and junior

scholars.

Veterinary science in Asia should be developed as Asia is standing out

as one of the world’s most growing regions. Therefore, it is necessary

to identify common veterinary issues in Asia and present a solution

together through research and discussion. Taiwan, Japan, and Korea

are facing many similar issues. Although the measures for tackling the

problems are slightly different, we should find appropriate alternatives

through mutual discussion. I am looking forward to seeing you in Seoul

and making some constructive opinions together. Thank you for your

participation.
