Elijah recognized the voice of God not in the
strong and heavy wind, not in the earthquake,
and not in the fire, but in a tiny whispering
sound. May we find enough quiet in our
clamorous world to hear His voice and
discern what He is calling us to do and be.

Live the Liturgy Peter saw Jesus walking on the water and began to walk toward him.
He became frightened at how strong the wind was and began to sink.
He took his focus off of Jesus and allowed his fears to get the best of
him. Fear often gets the best of us and cripples us. We sink. Many of
our actions and thoughts are motivated by fear. Think of how many
opportunities you have missed because of fear. Jesus tells us to trust
and to meet each day with faith and confidence. God is with us. We
have nothing to fear.

Catholic Social Teaching: Preferential Option
for the Poor and Vulnerable Catholic social teaching is a central and essential element of our faith.
Its roots are in the Hebrew prophets who announced God’s love for
the poor and called God’s people to a covenant of love and justice. It
is a teaching founded on the life and words of Jesus Christ, who came
“to bring glad tidings to the poor...liberty to captives...recovery of
sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18-19), and who identified himself with
“the least of these,” the hungry and the stranger (cf. Matthew 25:45). (Summary Report of the Task Force on Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Education by
the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops)
Preferential Option for the Poor and Vulnerable ~ A basic moral
test is how our most vulnerable members are faring. In a society
marred by deepening divisions between rich and poor, our tradition
recalls the story of the Last Judgment (Matthew 25:31-46) and
instructs us to put the needs of the poor and vulnerable first. (Seven of
Catholic Social Teaching, Themes of the USCCB, 2005)
Tai Chi at OLGH It is time for another round of Tai Chi at OLGH. There
are various classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays
starting September 6. There is no charge. The classes
will be taught by Ron (Mac) Mackiewicz, a member
of Our Lady of Good Hope Parish. Ron is NOT a
certified Tai Chi Master, although he has been
teaching at OLGH for one year and doing Tai Chi for
four years. To find out the class details and to
register contact Mac at [email protected]
or 414-940-9607.
Parish Calendar Scheduling Parish organizations, groups, and committees: To
avoid conflicts in meeting rooms, and to be aware of
all the activities going on in the parish, it is
important that all meetings, events, and activities
held in the parish or school facilities be
scheduled in the parish calendar, which is kept in
the parish office. Please send your 2017-2018
schedule of dates and times to the parish office as
soon as possible. Be sure to include information on
who to contact in the event of a scheduling conflict.
Bingo helps the parish Bingo has turned over a $25,000 check to the parish for a
