milestonesNatasha Campbell – Soprano Daniel Warren – Conductor

Focusing on life’s significant moments: birth, education, career, love, family, travel, death and the hereafter, we offer a program of lovely and evocative music in many moods, including: Michael Tippet, Music for the Birthday of Prince Charles; Brahms, Academic Festival Overture; Holst, Hammersmith; Alfred Reed, Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair; John Adams, Short Ride on a Fast Machine; Grieg, Funeral Music; and the finale from Richard Strauss’s Death and Transfiguration. A delightful addition to this program is Canadian soprano, Natasha Campbell. Her accolades include placing second in the 23rd Annual Eckhardt-Grammatté Competition and First Place in the Guelph Spring Festival’s Edward Johnson Competition. Natasha will sing selections from Bernard Gilmore’s important and pioneering piece, Five Folk Songs for Soprano and Wind Band.

Bach, Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor; Claude T. Smith, Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis; selections from Leopold Mozart, Sleigh Ride; Alfred Reed, Russian Christmas Music; and for a funny and surprising take on the traditions of Christmas music, David Lovrien, Minor Alterations: Christmas through the Looking Glass.

Please note: One performance only at 8:00 p.m.

all that jazz!Daniel Warren – Conductor

Just the word “jazz” conjures up excitement! The Wellington Wind Symphony swings! In this delightful concert, music by Chick Corea, “Spain”; Oscar Peterson, “Place St. Henri”; and the music of Woody Herman will be featured as well. Then there is all the music inspired by jazz, including, on this program, Leonard Bernstein, Symphonic Dances from West Side Story; and Darius Milhaud, The Creation of the World.

Larry Moser – Clarinet Daniel Warren – Conductor

Travel with us! Right from your seat at this concert! Music Director Daniel Warren has taken flight for our season finale, which will be a musical excursion from top to bottom of the Western Hemisphere. Renowned Wilfrid Laurier composer Glenn Buhr brings us Akasha (Sky), while composers Brian Balmages and Robert Buckley evoke the Arctic: Balmages with his Into the Arctic, and Buckley with his Land of the Midnight Sun. From further south we have Aaron Copland’s El Salon México, and from the southern continent, Johan de Meij’s knock-out arrangement of Venezuelan composer Moisés Moliero, Joropo; and Argentinian composer Albert Ginastera’s riveting Danza Final (Malambo) from Estancia. The soloist for this concert is our masterful principal clarinetist, Larry Moser, performing John Williams’s The Terminal.
