Upcoming T-Bird Basketball Opportunities Doug Woodard Ski l ls Academy Who: Incoming grades 4-12 What: The 4th annual Doug Woodard Basketball Skills Academy will offer elite level basketball training in several core skill

areas. These core skills serve as the foundation and cover the essential elements for developing dominant Bellevue West basketball players. They include the following: footwork, ball handling, form shooting, shooting off the pass and dribble, body positioning, rebounding, passing, transition, defense, improving basketball IQ and game readiness. The kids will be challenged at every practice to perform skills correctly and at game speed! Camp instructors include 5 time state champion head coach Doug Woodard, former NBA and college skill developer John Jungers, former Bellevue West and UNO great Mike Jenkins, and the Bellevue West High School coaching staff.

Grades and Times: Students entering these grades, ALL CAMPS AT LIED CENTER Grades 3-­‐5: 8:00 – 9:30 am Grades 6-­‐8: 10:00 – 11:30 am Grades 9-­‐12: 12:30 – 2:00 pm Campers will receive instruction from the Bellevue West Girls Basketball Coaching Staff. We will focus on fundamentals and improving on both offensive and defensive skills. Grades 3-­‐5: Focus on fundamentals, ball-­‐handling (basic and advanced), proper shooting form, working on proper footwork with shooting and layups, passing (both stationary and moving), working on moving w/o the ball, and defensive fundamentals. Grades 6-­‐8: Continue to develop and expand on fundamentals. Grades 9-­‐12: We will be working on skills and sets to get us ready for our summer leagues and camps. We will focus on offensive and defensive sets, and skill work. About Coach Mintken: Coach Mintken just finished his second year as the Bellevue West Girls Head Coach. In the last 2 years, they have gone 41-­‐13 and made it the State Semi-­‐Finals in back to back years. Before coaching, Coach Mustard was an All-American Basketball player & National Champion Football player at the University of North Dakota. He went on to play nearly six seasons in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns & Denver Broncos! Coach Mustard teaches math at East.

2016 Bellevue East Chieftain Summer Swimming Clinics for students attending Bellevue East High School next year.

All Clinic sessions will be lead by the Bellevue East Head Coach with support from current team members and coaching staff.

Prerequisites: No competitive swimming required although you must be able to swim one length of the pool doing freestyle or backstroke. These swim clinics are NOT beginning swimming lessons, but are designed to learn and/or perfect stroke technique, learn and/or perfect turns, starts, and finishes, and to introduce the other skills necessary to compete on a varsity level. One piece swimming suits and goggles are required.

THERE IS NO COST TO PARTICIPATE OTHER THAN THE TIME COMMITMENT TO ATTEND.

Session One: June 6 – June 10; daily 1:00pm-2:15pm at Bellevue East Pool

Session Two: July 11 – July 15; daily 1:00pm-2:15pm at Bellevue East Pool

Distance Running: Summer “Drop In” Camp

Distance Runners are invited to “drop in” for group running

this summer at the times and places below. It doesn’t matter

where you go to school in Bellevue, if you’re a runner, that’s

all that matters. There is no cost to participate. Just show up

ready to do some running. Runners will be divided into

groups based upon ability. Camp is limited to those students

entering 5th grade and older.

Chieftain Cheer camp

Come for a two day cheer camp. Camp will focus on building cheer ability, leadership skills, conÞdence building activities, and

learning new material. It will be a lot of fun!!!

For: Individuals and/or Teams ages 5-13. (Teams will be given time to work on their routines/skills needed for their squad)

When: July15th and 16th 9 am-3 pm Performance will be on the 2nd day @ 3pm.

2016 Football Camp When: August 3rd­5th, 9:00am­11:00am Where: Logan Fontenelle Football Field

Cost: $10 (all proceeds go to the football program)

Who: All students interested in playing Logan Warrior football during the fall.

Come and get a head start on everyone else. Begin to learn the Warrior way; participants will learn formations, positional skills, get a jump on

conditioning, and have a bit of fun before practice starts.

BellevueWestHighSchool Jr. T-Bird basketball tryouts will be held Thursday, August 18th, at 6:30pm. Tryouts are open to any boy grades 3-8. This is a select program intended for those that have a desire to improve their basketball skills, be a part of a fun team, and play a lot of basketball.
