Warm Up before starng to shovel. Doing stretching exercises could keep you from injuring yourself. Use the right size shovel for your height--something lightweight and long enough to alleviate some of the stress on your lower back. Use proper liſting techniques. Hold the load toward close to your core. Avoid bending forward and twisng, which could injure your discs. Wear shoes or boots with good tread and put down some salt, sand, or kiy lier to keep from slipping on any ice. Pace yourself! Take frequent breaks. Divide and con- quer and stay hydrated, too! If possible, use a snow-blower instead of shoveling. Use the reverse gear, if available, when backing up instead of pulling it back. The best p of all though…consider having someone with a younger, stronger back do it for you, if possible. Take it from someone who has injured his own back a me or two (and I should know beer). I hope you feel great all winter long. If you should injure yourself, however, I would be more than happy to help straighten you out. Give me a call.
