Hello fellow Key Clubbers and Kiwanian’s,

Are you ready for an exciting and new year of Key Club?! I sure am. And not because it’s my job, either! As many of you already know and remember, freshman year is an exciting time for students as they make that transition from middle to high school. It is your job as officer to get as many of them into this club of ours as possible, as likely they will eventually become your replacements! If you see some poor fellow wandering around the hallway, lost, give him a flyer for key club and point him or her in the right direction!

Many of the clubs in the AYS division are at risk of becoming inactive, due to lack of members. You must ensure the enrollment and the fines collected for FIFTEEN members. That’s 15. Any club under 15 by the end of September must contact me immediately, as they will be at immediate risk of no longer operating. And on that sober note, the quiz!

First person to email me back ( [email protected] ) with any right answer (you do not need to answer them all) will earn points for their school. I will tally up the points twice, once for our ALASKA RALLY, and second at the end of my time as your LtG. Whichever school has the most points at the end of those times will be rewarded! So make sure to compete!

Pop Quiz:

1. Why is it called Key Club? 2. Who is my boss?

3. What is the derivative with respect of x of y=ln(x2) ? 4. How many divisions represent PNW, or the Pacific NorthWest?

5. What is under Rihanna’s umbrella? 6. What was Sir Isaac Newton’s favorite fruit?

7. Ask me what my favorite color is! Seriously, this is free points! Make sure to email any possible answer to [email protected] , ASAP. Whoever answers first for their school, will win! One final note: Officers, please read this, and make sure to email me back, if I happen to send you an email. Communication is vital for key club to be successful. For everyone! Friend me on Facebook, email me if you’re bored, or call me up! Trust me, I love to talk to people! You don’t need to be an officer to hit me up!

Keanna Hammons, of Palmer, answered questions 1 and 7 correctly, with 1925 and an arrow to the knee! That’s 20 points for Palmer! Sharon Hunter, again, earned points for Colony by correctly answering question 4 with 1,111,111,110! Remember: There is a pretty amazing prize for the school that wins, so please respond and win; the quizzes update every month!

Project Eliminate is a joint Kiwanis International/UNICEF project to eradicate all maternal and neonatal tetanus from the world. Neonatal

tetanus comes from cutting an umbilical cord with a dirty knife, among other things, and kills one baby ever nine minutes. This is unacceptable. Please, stand up and fight this battle with all of us. Last year the Pacific Northwest raised over $19,350. Let’s raise that number even higher this

year!
