VET Auto Excursion to

Orbost

The VET Auto class went to Orbost last Thursday to

gain some industry experience and insight.

Our first visit was to Orbost Tyres and Repairs

where the students were shown how to do a wheel

alignment, wheel balance, and change a tyre. They

were also given the opportunity to have a go

themselves.

Our second visit was to Orbost panels, where we met

with the owner Alan, who told us all about smash

repairs and spray painting, before giving us a guided

tour and demonstration of the spray booth.

Our third and last visit was to Beveridges Logging,

where we ran into ex student Luke Henderson who

spoke to our students about being an apprentice, and

had a good chat with Pam Beveridge about employer

expectations and what they look for in apprentices.

This was a great day for everyone involved, and gave

the students an opportunity to see and ask many

questions about life in the Automotive industries, and

how best to get a start in the industry.

Principal’s Page 2/06/2016 The sun’s out.

After the frosty morning the sun comes out and after a week of world horrors in the news it’s hard to imagine a more peaceful and content place than the school yard. I took pictures of what was going on: P-3s playing ‘fly’ (the jumping over sticks game where the sticks get further apart), some footy, basketball, others just chatting and enjoying the warmth.

It’s been another very busy week, with all staff writing reports: secondary staff working together and updating ‘baseline data’ on Personal and Social learning as they write reports for each student.

Teachers are doing peer observation, and there is continual talking about student progress, and how best to achieve it. Also we are evaluating our progress on the 2016 Annual Implementation Plan: checking what we’ve achieved, what we are still working on and what we are still to do—we are very pleased with progress. I don’t expect too many people are watching ‘Revolution School’ on ABC about how Kambrya College turned their school around with intensive work on ‘evidenced based practice’: but for us it’s very interesting, in that many of the practice that they are adopting are similar to our own. Education is certainly undergoing a revolution in Victoria. Bruce

Wow a town, a little different to Smokey Bay. I will ask Siri where I am. Hey Siri? Yes super ninja ultimate hero, replies Siri. (HA HA never gets old. I can’t believe I named myself that.) Where am I Siri? Cann River said Siri, Southwest of Smokey Bay. Beau said he took a walk around Cann River then he gets swooped by a bird.

Beau runs away to a abandoned football room. He kicks a bird with his right foot. He hears a loud smash! Beau shouts who’s there? “Derek White and Giro Craft. Who’s asking?” they both say.

Beau Whitford. I need to get home says Beau. “We can help, if you help us. We are Miners. Ever heard of DG ink?” says Gigo ummm …. Yes on TV says Beau. “Then you’ll help” says Derek. Of course says Beau.

4 days later…. Derek says “ok inventory 69 Emeralds, 23 gold chunks, 27 sapphires and 63 Rubies. So what are you going to use your cash on Beau?” A catapult to go home. 2 days later, Beau’s in Smokey bay with $12.08764 in his pocket. The End

The Amazing Adventure!!!

The Black Swan named Doff Head

Once there was a Black Swan named Doff Head. He wanted to

relocate to Hobart so he started at the Gold Coast and then

he stopped at Moe in Victoria to go and catch up with his

brother. Then he went to Big W in Morwell. He flew to

Canberra and went to the Shopping Centre and went to the

clothes shop. He bought a hat, a pair of knickers, a t-shirt and

some thongs. Then he went to Woolworths and he bought

some lamingtons and some Tim Tams.

He accidently flew into a net near a local pool, so he twisted

and twirled but he couldn’t get out. Then the lifesaver from

the pool came along and helped him out. He then flew to

Hobart safely and lived happily ever after. By Nicole Lee

Emma and Angel going around Australia

A long, long time ago in Australia there was a dog and human. They were going to go around Australia. The dog’s name was Angel, and the human’s name Emma. They brought a big boat and the boat’s name is Emma Angel. Emma and Angel were in a boat and the boat crashed on some rocks. They were stranded there for two years!

They were running out of food but Emma’s mum came to save them and took them home. By Hailey G.

The Australian Crocodile

There once was a crocodile that wanted to go to Queensland. His name was Spikey, he is a teenager, he’s nineteen and has two good friends.

One day he has a dream where he imagines that he is in Cairns, in far north Queensland. “It’s Queensland,” Spikey says. He finds a bakery but he was not hungry. There was some people walking down the street but when they see the crocodile they say, “Crikey.” People start to run so Spikey tries to walk home but his legs won’t let him go any further. So, he sleeps until the morning.

When he wakes up he realises he is at home in the water in Darwin. It must have been all a dream but was it because his friends said, “Crikey mate, where have you been?” Perhaps I did go away but I did not make it and must have found myself back here.

So crocodile fell asleep again.

Ripper Barbie

That was a ripper game of footy.

Hey do you want to come for a Barbie? “Sure” replied Mick.

Later that day….Mick, guess what “what” replied Mick. “I brought a brand new Barbie” the new Barbie was twice as big as Bob’s old one. “I will go get the meat out of the Esky” said Bob. Nnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooo!! “What” said Mick. “I am out og meat we will have to go to Woolworths.

10 minutes later……”Nnnnnoooooooo” said Bob. “Bob that is the second time you’ve said that today, what?” said Mick, “they have no meat.”

Then minutes later back at Bob’s house. “Mick I hate this. Why do we have to eat lamingtons?” Knock Knock! “That will probably be our wives” said Mick. The wives came in and they had luckily brought some meat for the B.B.Q.

Yesss!!!! I s’pose we are having a Barbie. No, a RIPPER BARBIE!!!
