Awesome Lives Here November 2019 Justify & Tell Why
We completed Quarter One, enjoyed our Fall Break, and came back to an exciting and enthusiastic Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 24. We want to thank all of the parents that attended these very important meet-ings. Our teachers stated that they had more parents in
attendance this year than in previous years. Thank you parents. Our Letter Grade was made public by the Arizona Department of Education on Friday, November 1. We have a score of 60.05, which is a letter grade of a D. We missed a letter grade of a C by .06 of a point (six hundredths of a point). We need to work hard to improve our letter grade for next year. We have already started with some adjustments this year. Our ELA and Math Teach-ers gave all of our students Interim Assessments the last week of September and the last week of October. This was done to prepare our students for the Galileo Tests in ELA, Math, and Science that our students are taking this week. In addition to the focus on our Interim Assess-ments and Galileo Tests, the Math Department has started a new online program called Imagine Math. The rest of NUSD is using this program and we started Imagine Math in October. We are confident this program will help our students be more prepared for the Galileo Tests and the Ari-zona Merit Two Test in April. We have also in-creased our focus on the English Language Learner Program this year. This Thursday, No-vember 7, will be our first ELL Parent Night. All of the ELA Teachers passed out invitations to our ELL Students to attend this important event. We are focusing on improved academic vocabulary to help our ELL Students be better prepared for the AZELLA, Galileo, and Arizona Merit Two Exams. We will get better and improve our Letter Grade for next year. This is our goal and we will achieve this goal together-students, parents, teachers, and staff. Thank you for your support and let's all move forward. Roman Soltero WCMS Principal

Our 7th period class has taken the
pledge to become part of the
Choose Love Movement. This
movement is teaching children and
adults how they can choose love
over anger. Scarlett Lewis, founder
of the Jessie Lewis Choose Love
Movement, stated, “Although we
can’t always choose what happens
to us, we can choose how we re-
spond. Children can learn to
choose a loving thought over any angry one. When a child realiz-
es that they have the power to positively impact themselves as
well as those around them, it is empowering and it perpetuates
their positive actions and interactions.” Today and every day
choose one loving thought over one angry thought and encourage
every child you know to do the same. Ghouls, goblins, monsters, witches, super heroes and even a whoopee cushion were on
