Awareness will saveour planet!

Use both sides of a sheet of paper. 1000 kg of recycled paper saves 17 large trees.

Use only the electricity that you need. Turn off lights, computers, and stereos when not in use.

Although they´re fun to look at, screen savers don´t save energy. The best way to save energy is to turn your monitor off.

Think when you are at the sink. Run less water while brushing your teeth, shaving, washing your face, and washing dishes.

Don´t just stand with the refrigerator door open! The average family opens the refrigerator 40 to 60 times a day, which uses unnecessary energy.

Keep food covered or wrapped in your refrigerator. Uncovered food releases moisture and forces the compressor to work harder.

Turn off the oven a few minutes before the full cooking time has elapsed. Retained heat will finish the cooking process.

As soon as water boils, turn the heat down. Boiling is a hot as water gets; low heat will maintain it.

Mission and VisionOur Mission:To educate and foster ecological sustainability in our community.

Our Vision:To be a carbon-neutral campus.

ASFG Making a DifferenceDid you know...

That the pool´s solar panels have reduced our gas consumption by 11,000 liters a month?Using solar panels is equivalent to planting 500 trees over the panel’s lifespan.

That we recycle:4.5 TONS of plastic a year?Plastic garbage thrown into the ocean kills as many as one million sea creatures every year.

2 TONS of aluminum and metals a year?Recycling just one can saves enough energy to run a computer for three hours!

120 m of organic waste a year? This trash is not going to a landfill where it would create harmful methane gases!

The renovations of our restrooms are saving 90,000 liters of water EVERY MONTH?

Our copy centers use recycled paper?Thank you for always using both sides of each sheet. By doing this we have reduced our paper consumption by 11,500 sheets a year. We are saving 1.5 trees a year which help absorb CO from our air.Keep reusing. We can save more.

Plastic requires 100 to 400 years to break down in a landfill.

Paper is the most common item found in our trash.

One small penlight battery can contaminate 10,000 liters of water.

Glass never disintegrates - it can be recycled endlessly.

You can make 20 cans out of recycled material with the same amount of energy it takes to make a new one.

It takes approximately one million years for a glass bottle to break down in a landfill.

Recycling one aluminum beverage can save enough energy to run a 100-watt bulb for 20 hours or a TV for two hours.

Recycling one ton of paper saves 17 trees, three cubic yards of landfill space, two barrels of oil, 7,000 gallons of water, and 4,100 kilowatt hours of electricity - enough energy to power the average American home for five months.

Recycling 125 aluminum cans saves enough energy to power one home for one day.

It takes more than 500,000 trees to produce the newspapers Americans read each Sunday, yet only 30% of all newspapers are recycled.

Battery acid is reycled by converting it to sodium sulfate for laundry detergent, glass, and textile manufacturing.

The average person throws away four pounds of garbage PER DAY. *This may vary in each country.
