I am glad to learn that the Bangalore Booksellers and Publishers Association in association with VGR Communications, is organising a 10 day Book Festival in Bangalore, which is called the Knowledge Capital of India.

I am pleased to learn that there will be more than a Million Books - on all topics under the Sun - on display at this unique Book Festival.

I hope and wish that this 11th Bangalore Book Festival will be a feast to the book lovers, authors, Intellectuals, Book Sellers and Publishers vis-a-vis create a record of records in sales and Purchases.

Bangalore Book Festival has turned out to be a much anticipated annual event for all the book lovers and has been a delight for bibliophiles. The Bangalore Book Festival will see books and literature from different states and different languages in India come together for a grand display.

Organisers say that this years festival is even bigger and better and a near million books shall be on display. Such books extravaganza promote book culture and reading habits.

There is a notion that in present times the computers and the internet and the visual media is holding sway over the younger generation. However studies say that the average reading of an indian reader has gone up considerably.

Habit of reading is a life time gift. Impressionable minds can be nurtured and molded in ways more than one.

MESSAGE

It is the opportune time for the book Romeos, bibliophiles and the book worms to swim the ocean of books at Bangalore, the Garden city in India, I am overwhelmed to know that this time the grand annual Bangalore Book Festival has come with many new promises, to be bigger and better with a spread of about one million books on display.

The 10-days festival from 29th November to 8th December-2013 at Palace Grounds – will have approximately 300 stalls with books in English, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Urdu spread over a trade area of more than 2.5 lakhs sq.ft. Subjects covered will range from pulp fiction to rarely available Indian editions of foreign academic publications.

It is heartening to note that a turnover of over Rs. 18 Crore is expected this year. A very good response in terms of order from schools, universities and libraries is accepted. The event which would have a participation of over 250 Publishers and Distributors will certainly provide a meeting ground for authors & publishers. Not only this, the event will commemorate the literary diversity bringing it in conversation with the intellectuals and the prominent personalities across the world.

The annual festival has been going on successfully since 2003, which shows that Bangaloreans are bestowed on with fantastic reading habits.

I wish the organizers of the event all success and congratulate them for bringing out such a grand event.

We are delighted and proud to put forth the 11th edition of the Bangalore Book Festival 2013. This will be one of the biggest book fairs in the southern region of India, with over 300 participants from various parts of our country. More than a million books on various subjects will be put forth and will be a visual treat to the book lovers of the IT city. Also books in different languages basically Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Urdu languages will also be displayed by various stall holders.

About Bangalore Book Festival

Welcome to the 11th edition of the Bangalore Book Festival. The journey of Bangalore Book Festival (BBF) started in the year 2003 with a vision to provide a wide platform to publishers, authors and book lovers.

Much loved and highly reputed BBF-2013 founded by BBPA and jointly organized by VGR Communications is working towards one mission where knowledge can to be shared. This time we intend to have around 350 stalls to present your titles.

Bangalore city known as the silicon valley of India attracts varied people from different places which make it truly cosmopolitan. Bangalore city has become the most preferred location in the world for trade shows since this city has many entrepreneurs and a huge corporate population with good spending capacity. It provides world class education and has many institutions which will help the book trade immensely.
