MAGIC THipPro – the new-est member of the AVTMAGIC Telephone HybridFamily - provides a good andsuccessful start into 2013.Since January the MAGICTHipPro is available in threebasic versions: POTS, ISDNor Voice-over-IP. For ISDNand Voice-over-IP an Eight-Channels System as well as aSixteen-Channels System areavailable. For analogue tele-phones lines AVT offers anEight-Channels System. The POTS and ISDN ver-sions can also be extendedlater on with the Voice-over-IP Upgrades. As already known from theother members of the MAG-IC Telephone Hybrid Fami-

ly, the MAGIC THipPro alsohas a separate digital EchoCanceller, Expander andAGC for each caller linewhich ensures a high speechintelligibility - even duringcaller conferences with 16participants.MAGIC THipPro is equippedwith two analogue and eightdigital Audio lines (4 x AES/EBU) plus two additionalHandset/Headset interfacesfor Pretalk. Due to this highnumber of Audio lines it isnot a problem to connectseveral studios to MAGICTHipPro.

In total up to twenty work-places can simultaneouslyaccess the system with the

MAGIC THipPro LAN andMAGIC THipPro ScreenerSoftware. A Server Softwareis not required, all PC Clientsare independent from eachother and have the same ac-cess rights. The MAGICTHipPro is controlled via theLAN interface at the rearside of the unit. A secondLAN interface is providedfor VoIP telephony. Withthe optional MAGIC THipProAdmin Upgrade the availa-ble system resources can besplit for/shared between upto six studios. A profile is as-signed to each studio whichdefines the number of the call-er lines and the Audio interfac-es in use. In each studio only

the caller lines allocated to thestudio are displayed on theMAGIC THipPro LAN and

MAGICTHipPro Screener user interface.The big advantage of this solu-tion is the flexible assignmentof a studio: A programme canbe broadcasted from any stu-dio without complex changesin the PABX or in the Audio ca-bling.Further information aboutMAGIC THipPro you willfind in the second part of thearticle on the next page.

New Features, new PossibilitiesHD Voice, Pretalk Streaming and DTMF Event Mode for the MAGIC Telephone Hybrids

No matter if it is MAGICTH2plus, MAGIC TH6 orMAGIC THipPro - thesesthree innovative options arenow available for all our Tel-ephone Hybrids.

HD VoiceUpgrade

With the HD Voice Upgradethe AVT Telephone Hybridsreceive calls from HD Voicetelephones in 7-kHz quality(G.722) when working in theVoice-over-IP operatingmode. Outgoing calls to HDVoice Telephones are alsotransmitted in 7-kHz quality.In the field this is a nice ad-vantage for e.g. the followingapplication: Reporters cannow call the MAGIC Tele-phone Hybrids with theirsmartphones using a so-called app (e. g. Media5-fone) and transmit theirspeech reportage in 7-kHzquality.The HD Voice Optionneeds to be activated onceper system and not per chan-nel, this means MAGICTH2plus can establish two 7-kHz connections with theupgrade, MAGIC TH6 up tosix 7-kHz connections andMAGIC THipPro even up tosixteen 7-kHz connections.Of course, to use the HDVoice Upgrade the VoIP Ex-tension is required for yourMAGIC Telephone Hybrid.

Pretalk StreamingUpgrade

With the help of the PretalkStreaming Upgrade Pretalkworkplaces can be estab-lished whose Audio signalsare transmitted via LAN. Atthe Pretalk workplace the us-er works with a USB Head-set that is connected to the

corresponding PC. This canbe a wired or wireless Head-set. The Headsets are alsoavailable in the AVT productportfolio. On the PC thecontrol software of the tele-phone hybrid in use is in-stalled. The Pretalk Stream-ing Upgrade is especially anadvantage if there are notenough Audio lines availableor if the Pretalk workplace islocated far away from the tel-ephone hybrid. A furtherbig advantage is the flexi-ble assignment of aPretalk workplace sincethe user only needs toconnect his PC to thecorresponding telephonehybrid via LAN.

DTMF-Analysis:Event Mode

The optional DTMF-Analyser provides now afurther operating modein addition to the Stand-ard Mode and the Game-show Mode. The newoperating mode is the so-called Event Mode. Es-pecially useful is the DT-

MF Event Mode for eventsignalling at e.g. sportsbroadcastings. For this appli-cation DTMF event labelsare defined in the softwareconfiguration, e.g. the tele-phone key “1“ can be allo-cated to the label “Goal“, thekey “2“ to the label “Penal-ty“ and the key “3“ to the la-bel “Red Card“. There areseveral connections from theindividual stadiums to the

studio. If one of the report-ers in the stadiums pressesthe key “1“, the information“Goal“ appears on the Pre-senter´s screen in green let-ters and he can immediatelyswitch the reporter of therelevant game to On Air.

Easy if you know how...MAGIC TippsAlways ready for transmission

Starting with the 3.x software version, the control ofthe MAGIC AC1 XIP Audio Codecs is even user-friendlier than before. With the new “SIP+ISDN Au-to Mode” the system detects via which line interface -LAN or ISDN - an incoming call is received andswitches automatically to the right line interface. Foroutgoing calls the user can decide if the connection isto be established via ISDN or SIP by using a singlekey. Via the front keypad the switching between ISDNand SIP is done with the “Shift/#“ key. In the PCSoftware a separate button is displayed below the tele-phone book button. A complicated reconfigurationvia submenus is now part of the history.The “SIP+ISDN Auto Mode” can be activated in thePC Software via the menu “Operation Settings - LineInterface“. If you want to configure it using the frontkeypad and display of the unit, it can be found in themenu “Operation Settings“.

Continued from page 1:MAGIC THipPro uses a data-base connection (Micro-soft® SQL), which allowsthe software todisplay the availa-ble caller informa-tion such as e.g.name, location,age etc., when thesystem receives acall and the phonenumber is trans-mitted. Due to thecalling numberidentificationfunction it is alsovery easy to blockcertain callers ifdesired.

There are two ways of callforwarding available: the in-trasystem call forwarding orcall forwarding via ECT (Ex-

plicit Call Transfer). The ad-vantage of the intrasystemforwarding is that the Pre-senter can switch the caller

back to Pretalk, Hold or OnAir at any time. However,this call forwarding methodblocks a caller line, which isnot the case when ECT isused.Further highlights of theAVT MAGIC THipPro Tele-phone Hybrid are the newHD Voice Upgrade and thePretalk Streaming Option,which are also available forthe MACIG TH2plus andMAGIC TH6 TelephoneHybrids. Application Pretalk Streamingwith MAGIC TH6 ISDN

Our MAGIC AE1DAB+ Audio Encoderscan now also be used incombination with the En-semble Multiplexer of theFraunhofer-Gesellschaft(FhG). If Audio pro-grammes are to be trans-mitted via WAN to aFraunhofer Multiplexer,the so-called MuxEnc-Protocol of the Fraun-hofer Gesellschaft mustbe used. The protocol isbased on DCP (= Distri-bution and Communica-tions Protocol), the trans-port layer of the EDIStandard.The MuxEnc Protocol al-lows - similar to the func-

tion of the AVT/VDLProtocol - a configurationof the remote Audio En-coders, a dynamic recon-figuration and the trans-mission of PAD(Programme AssociatedData).The MuxEnc Protocol isavailable as fee-based op-tion for the MAGIC AE1DAB+ Audio Encodersfrom now on. The activa-tion is done via a pass-word entry.From end of February theprotocol will also supporta redundancy solutionwith two multiplexers.
