Mainframe CASS Status
• In Sustainment Phase - Oldest stations now 18 years old (planned 20-year life cycle)
• Seven Year PBL awarded to LMSTS in November 2008– Support covered until November 2015
• Vendor support commitment through 2015– USN will need to support longer– Block I stations being salvaged already – Block II/III in 2016/2017
• Major changes in process– Developing a replacement for CNI assets with greater capability –
CNIAS
• Replacing mainframe CASS with RTCASS at USMC sites• Will replace USN mainframe CASS stations with eCASS starting in
2016
10
CASSPerformance Based Logistics
• New PBL started FY09– CSP closed out after 8 successful years– PBL is essentially identical to CSP – Prime Contractor
• Lockheed Martin – Simulation Training & Support Division
– Period is 5 yrs with two 1 yr options
24 hour LOCKHEED MARTIN
Turnaround on BROAD ARROWS
1111
Communications/Navigation/IFF Ancillary Set (CNIAS)
• Developing a new and improved CASS ancillary for CNI function– Will eliminate CNI MF CASS configuration by 2018 (with USN JTIDS
sundown)
• Includes real-time Link 16, IFF, TACAN test capability• Includes improved MIDS-LVT and CIT TPSs
– Improved MIDS TPS will now require CNIAS assets– Expandable via software for future JTRS waveforms
• Will be an ancillary to MF CASS RF, RTCASS, and the future eCASS• Development schedule (CNIAS and TPSs) –
August 2007 to August 2010• CNIAS production - August 2010 to August 2011

– eCASS –Mainframe CASS Modernization
• In 2015, early CASS stations will be 25 years old– Must address obsolescence while inserting technology to satisfy emerging
weapon system test requirements & reduce Total Ownership Costs– Fewer stations required
• Mainframe CASS Modernization called “eCASS” – a new test system
• Leverage RTCASS, ARGCS ACTD and other test technology developments
• TPSs will be transportable among eCASS, RTCASS and Mainframe CASS
