Avast Mobile Security   Banking, shopping, email. What can’t we do on our phones? Hackers know valuable data is stored on people’s phones, and they increasingly find new ways to attack mobile users. Avast Mobile Security for Android scans mobile devices and secures them against infected files, phishing, malware, and spyware. The latest version, presented at Mobile World Congress, is completely redesigned, and free.  

The app provides people with the most advanced mobile malware protection available, now even faster with Avast’s leading cloud scanning engine.  

Avast Mobile Security’s Privacy Advisor informs the user about what data apps have access to and ad networks included within apps. The Wi‐Fi Security feature notifies the user when connecting to an unsecure router. To defend their personal data against prying eyes, users can now lock an unlimited number of apps on their device using the App Locking feature.

Avast SecureLine VPN  Open Wi‐Fi hotspots have become commonplace. They are convenient and quick to connect to, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are secure. Hackers can easily access the personal data of users connected to unprotected networks. With Avast SecureLine VPN, Avast has created a solution for Android and iOS smartphone and tablet users to circumvent this problem.

 Avast SecureMe  Although convenient, open Wi‐Fi connections pose a significant risk, especially if they are based off of poorly configured routers. Unsecured routers are susceptible to DNS hijacking, by which cybercriminals redirect web traffic to fake Internet sites. When users log in, for example, to a banking site, thieves can capture the login credentials. On unprotected Wi‐Fi networks, thieves can also easily see emails, browsing history, and personal data if a consumer does not use a secure or encrypted connection like a virtual private network (VPN).   Avast has developed a free app for iPhones and iPads that solves this problem on two levels: It checks the Wi‐Fi connection for security issues and it creates a secure connection, protecting the user's data from hackers and spies.  

Avast SecureMe's Wi‐Fi Security feature scans Wi‐Fi connections and notifies the user of security issues like routers with weak passwords or vulnerabilities that could be exploited by hackers, and unsecured wireless networks. This helps the user make a better decision when choosing a Wi‐Fi connection. Avast SecureMe also features a VPN to secure user connections while they conduct online tasks, such as checking emails, banking, and visiting their favorite social network sites. 

Unlike Avast SecureLine VPN, which is a premium app offering advanced features including the choice of a specific server location, Avast SecureMe is a one‐tap solution that is available for free in the Apple App Store. 

 

Avast Wi‐Fi Finder  People are used to being connected to secure and fast home or work cable networks, and they expect the same of their mobile devices everywhere they go. However, mobile data plans have limitations. With Avast Wi‐Fi Finder for Android and iOS, mobile users can connect to public Wi‐Fi everywhere they go, for free.
