FEATURES & BENEFITS Rigid frame for stability and consistent results Flat camera rail (grinded and heat tempered) with double linear

guiding for the best calibration Automatic positioning of both camera and repeat direction by

means of computer controlled electric motors High definition cameras for the best image High optical magnification for clear view on mounting mark and

accurate mounting Extra spotlights next to the cameras for best light and contrast

under each condition Connectivity to any other network for flexible and precise

automated job preparation outside the mounting area User friendly Windows software Excellent database capability

OPTIONS. Offline filling database: An offline filling database enables the

input of new jobs from a separate computer. This enables continual mounting without having to stop production during the input of new jobs.

Learning function for easy mounting of repair jobs: The learn option enables the reading of coordinates to repair and to use them as a guidance for the replacement piece to be mounted. The coordinates will be stored automatically so they are available for future use.

FLATMOUNTThe Flatmount range is designed for the post print corrugated industry. It is an easy-to-use machine to mount photopolymer printing plates direct onto a mylar.

The Flatmount is equipped with a computer that controls the motorized positioning of the cameras (both x- and y-direction). When the positions of the mounting marks have been entered into the computer, the cameras will automatically move to the correct position.

The images of the cameras are displayed on a split screen monitor. The operator has a choice of hairlines, e.g. single crosses, double movable lines, sizable circles and combinations. Snapshots of the mounting position can be taken and displayed faded on the monitor to mount image on image. The positions are stored in the computer and can be recalled any time.

The printing plate can be mounted onto the mylar or on a pvc sheet, which is placed on the mounting table. The table is provided with a lock for the so-called Matthews/Bobst system. Other locking systems are available upon request.

Automatic proofA proofing cylinder with digital adjustment for a perfect proof is available for the Opti-Mount series. In this case, after mounting, the plate cylinder is automatically brought to the correct position for pulling a proof. The print nip on the left hand side and on the right hand side can, if necessary, be set and adjusted by increasing or decreasing the pressure on either side.

Esko PlatepatcherThe Esko PlatePatcher optimizes the data flow and can output a MOM-file with the positions of the mounting marks that can be picked up by the mounting machine. Data input at the mounting machine is thereby eliminated.

OPTI-MOUNT

Detail Opti-Mount

The Opti-Mount is a mounting and proofing machine, specially developed for the corrugated post-print industry.

The Opti-Mount is equipped with a computer that controls the motorized positioning of the cameras as well as the gearless rotation of the dummy and proofing cylinder. Each mounting position can be reached in seconds. The positions are stored in the computer and can be recalled at any time. This eliminates setup time with repeating jobs. The combination of the AV MOM technology together with a conventional mirror system ensures the correct mounting of plates without mounting marks.

The dummy cylinder is standard provided with a lock for the so-called Matthews/Bobst system. Other locking systems are available upon request.

Mirror SystemThe semi-reflecting mirror is used when mounting is done directly from the die-cut drawing onto the impression cylinder. During manual mounting, the operator uses the view on the monitor of the cameras, constructed on an upper rail, to eliminate the parallax effect. The cameras view is split by the semi reflecting mirror and shows the combination of the image of the proof on the proofing cylinder and the position of the printing plates on the dummy cylinder.

FEATURES & BENEFITS Rigid frame Automatic positioning of both camera and cylinder rotations Automatic cradle for the positioning of the proofing drum to the

print nip position Proofing Excellent connectivity to any other network for automated job

preparation outside the mounting area User-friendly windows based mounting software Endless capacity for storage of printing jobs Mounting cylinder with Matthews/Bobst lock system or any other

customer preferred lock system. The software automatically compensates for different repeat

lengths. High camera magnification for clear view on the monitor of the

mounting mark or critical places in the mounting job Elimination of parallax effect due to camera viewing through the

mirrors The combination of mirrors and cameras makes this machine very

ergonomic and handy when mounting into die-cut drawings or when mounting photopolymer or rubber plates without mounting marks

Plot function with automatic drawing pen to draw the box shape on proof paper

OPTIONS. Automatic drawing pen: The pen draws lines on the proofing

paper in order to check the positioning of the printing form on the printing medium.

Plot function to draw the box shape: In combination with the drawing pen a DXF file can be imported to plot the box shape on the proof paper.

Offline filling database: An offline filling database enables the input of new jobs from a separate computer.

OVERLAY MODULE®This highly sophisticated precision tool was invented and patented by AV Flexologic b.v.. The overlay function is based on the principle that the first colour/plate is used as a ‘key’ reference for the next colours/plates. Once the first plate is in the correct position, this module enables the operator to take and store a snapshot of the mounting marks, which is then shown on the monitor. Whilst mounting the next plates, this ‘key’ picture is displayed in a faded (semi-transparent) way on the monitor as a reference point for the operator. The operator simply has to position the mounting marks of the next plate(s) over the ‘key’ image (overlay) in exactly the same position.

The system also enables snapshots of subsequent plates to be taken and stored. This can then serve as a digital proof for quality control purposes before the actual printing. Several hairline types are available. The picture on the monitor is adjusted automatically for outside light influences such as brightness, gamma, sharpness, shutter, white balance, and gain.

Advantages of

the Overlay Module

• Easy, accurate and efficient

• Time saving

• Easy to retrieve proof

• Printed digital proof

• Less mistakes

• No mounting mark needed

All the plates are mounted onto the mylar automatically without operator interference. While the FAMM® is taking care of the mounting job, the operator can even attend to other tasks. This greatly increases efficiency in the prepress department.

Many plates are mounted in a very short period of time. Payback is quick and often less than 1 year.

POSSIBILITIESAutomated pre-setting function for sleeve position recognition by the printing pressMounting machines of AV Flexologic comply with the latest requirements for pre-setting with different print preset systems. Systems used by all major printing press suppliers for presetting sleeve detection in the printing press are incorporated into the FAMM®. As an example, visual mounting marks on the sleeve can be detected automatically. These marks are then used as ‘zero up’, with the position of the mark being a sleeve-specific zero position for both X and Y register. The FAMM® has an automatic adjustment system for the mounting mark strips on the sleeves both in X and Y directions.

FLAT FAMM®This state-of-the-art machine is the top in the range of AV Flexologic mounting machines for mounting corrugated printing plates onto mylars. Short job runs, quick changeover times and high quality is achieved, while at the same time the Flat FAMM® mounts fast, consistently, and accurately.

The operation of the FAMM® is very simple. The operator selects a (repeat) job from the computer or creates a new job. It is also possible to connect the FAMM® to the DTP department and optimize the digital workflow. A link with Esko plate patcher is possible.

Once the mounting coordinates have been loaded in the computer, the job can start:

The operator pre-positions the plates for one printing job on the pickup area and places the mylar on the mounting table.

The robot transports the plates (with tape at the backside) from the pickup area to the mounting table, where 2 automatic cameras recognize the mounting marks.

The FAMM® uses AV Flexologic’s patented image recognition software to measure the position of the mounting marks real-time during the automated positioning of the plate. This highly increases automation and accuracy over mounting and prevents human failures.

After each robot movement the coordinates of the mounting marks are measured and corrected accordingly until these coordinates are within the user-specified mounting tolerance. There is no need for manual handling.

A pressure roller mounts the printing plates without air inclusions onto the mylar.

After having finished mounting, the cameras return to their original mounting position and a digital proof is made of the mounting marks. The digital quality report is automatically generated and demonstrates the mounting results. These reports are stored with the job in the computer. Automatic transport

The Flatmount Economy is developed as a basic alternative for the Flatmount.

The Flat-mount Economy is equipped with two cameras that can be moved sideways by hand. The camera is set in an exact digital position and the repeat direction (motorized) can be set. A position on the mylar can be determined by moving the left or right camera to the middle of the mylar and by setting the digital read out to 0.

The printing plate is mounted onto the mylar or pvc sheet, which is positioned on the mounting table. The table is provided with a lock for the so-called Matthews/Bobst system. Other locking systems are available upon request.
