The company is based in Leicester (central England) with easy access to all motorway networks. It was foundedapproximately 20 years ago with links with the anti-vibration mounting industry for over 40 years, so is wellpositioned to offer expert advice and specialist knowledge of all vibration control products and applications.

Technical

Forcing frequency is the frequency atwhich an external force is applied to theequipment to sustain it at a constant"forced vibration' i.e. generator setrunning at 1500 rpm the forcingfrequency is 1500CPM or 25Hz.

Natural frequency is the frequency ornumber of cycles per minute (CPM) orcycles per second (Hz) that theequipment will oscillate at if it is excitedand then left to vibrate at its own speeduntil it comes to rest. It is dependent onthe AV mountings spring stiffness, &hence the AV mountings deflection underload. As a rule of thumb, the greater themounting deflection the lower the naturalfrequency & the better the isolation.


Frequency ratio is the forcing frequencyover natural frequency - see thetransmissibility curve. The bigger theratio the better the isolation.

Damping. Different elastomers havedifferent dampening characteristics. Formost general applications the lower thematerial damping is, the better theIsolation, that's why, together with itshigh mechanical properties Naturalrubber is the preferred choice for anti-vibration mountings.

Resonance. Where the forcing frequencyand the natural frequency of thesuspended mass are the same i.e.; thefrequency ratio is equal to one, then thephenomenon known as resonance willoccur. This is because the energy in theforcing motion is in phase with thenatural frequency and energy is storedand builds up in the system.

A good example of this is a playgroundswing where pushing the swing in phasethe swing ark increases and the swinggets higher & higher.

The results of resonance can be cata-strophic and this condition should beavoided at all times.

The collapse of the Tacoma narrowsbridge USA in the 1940s, and morerecently the London millennium foot-bridge, which was closed for twoyears for repair, were both due tostructural resonance.

Vibration. MountingsHigh amounts of vibration can cause huge amounts of damage to machinery in the long term; for this reason vibration isolation is necessary to help keepmachines healthier for

longer.

To prevent the transfer of vibration that a machine generates, rubber products are used as a sort of isolating pad that absorbs these vibrations and stopsthem from being transferred to surrounding machines & structures. These rubber products are known as anti vibration mounts and they are used on variousdifferent types of industrial applications, such as diesel generator, pumps, motors and HVAC equipment.

Anti vibration mounts and mountings have the capacity to absorb high amounts of energy which means high amounts of damping. They are also capableof reducing the sound created by the vibrating machine, resulting in the machine running more smoothly and more quietly.

Having the correct type of anti vibration mounting is vital for the smooth running of any piece of machinery, which is why these anti vibrations productscome in all different shapes and sizes so as to fit different machines and accommodate different weights and environments. Some of these are cylindricalbobbins, buffer and bump stops, cone and cab mounts, sandwich mounts and many more. For each different type of mount there is a range of sizesavailable which further ensures that every machine is catered for.
