Non IntrusiveInspectionWe at Auzpec positively encourage ourcustomers to carry out Non Intrusiveinspection (NII) and we have the experiencedpersonnel to help. Using Advanced NDTmethods such as Phased array and Time offlight to replace intrusive borescope / confinedspace entry inspections. Not only is NII saferit is more cost effective, accurate and reliableespecially for first in service inspection. Shut-down times, mechanical disassembly, cleaningand waste disposal and cranage are reduceddrastically.Australian standard AS3788 states that aninternal inspection gathers information aboutthe condition of internal surfaces and usuallyrequires confined space vessel entry or visualinspection using equipment such as bore-scopes or video scopes. However, internal inspection may also beexecuted by appropriate non-intrusive means(e.g. ultrasonic or radiographic testing), wherea high degree of confidence can be

Failure Analysis

We at Auzpec can help we canperform failure analysis quickly andpainlessly on site and in the lab sophone today.Failure analysis is the process ofcollecting and analysing data todetermine the cause of a failure. It isan important discipline in manybranches of manufacturing industry, such as the electronics industry, where it is a vital tool used in thedevelopment of new products and forthe improvement of existingproducts. The failure analysis process

Is it fit for serviceFitness for service FFSFitness-for-service (FFS) assessment is a multi-disciplinary approachto determine, as the name suggests, whether a structural componentis fit for continued service. In 2000, the American Petroleum Institute (API) published API 579,a Recommended Practice for FFS assessment. Although thisdocument was intended primarily for refining and petrochemicalassets, it has seen widespread use in a wide range of industries thatutilize pressure vessels, piping, and storage tanks. It aids with:

Inspection and categorizing damage, degradation, andcorrosion mechanisms Evaluation of wall thinning, pitting, cracking, fatigue,

mechanical damage, high-temperature corrosion, and creep. Developing and implement programs for corrective and

At Auzpec we take a 4step approach tofailure analysis.Step 1 (understand)Gain a good understanding of the conditionsunder which the part was operating. We ask questions from those who work with,as well as those who maintain the equipmentand visit the site.Step 2 (look)We carry out a visual examination, cataloguingand recording the physical evidence at thesame time. This familiarises the investigatorswith the evidence and creates a permanentrecord that can be referred to in light of newinformation. The samples are examined, photographed and sketched taking particularcare to identify and record any area ofparticular importance, such as fracture surfacesand surface defects.Step 3 (decide on a course of action).Based on the visual examinations and thebackground information the investigator mustoutline a plan of action, which is the series ofsteps that will be needed to successfullycomplete the case. Macroscopic examination,Non-destructive testing (NDT), Chemicalanalysis,MetallographicexaminationMechanical Testing.Determine the causeof failure, which canclassified into i.e.Ductile, Brittle Inter-granular, BrittleTrans-granular, andFatigue.Step 4 (conclusionand recommendations)Once all the data is gathered, the investigatorcomes to a conclusion based on the evidencepresent. This requires that the investigator to draw

Auzpec inspectionsare thorough. We see external and Internal inspections onpressure Vessels as a complete audit of thesystem under Operation along with its Designand Materials.Any serious non compliment issues are dealtwith as soon as possible. Recommendationsregarding anomalies are captured in thesubsequent report. Following best practiceand AS 3788 we follow a strict set of checks toenable a sound and safe basis for furtheroperation. We collect our data via a tablet form and storethe data in a meta data format. This rawinformation is available at any time by thecustomer. The raw data is then turned into thecustomers requirements either Microsoft wordor pdf. Once the report has been check by anRPEQ Engineer via the quality system it is

Phased array: Is widely used in several industrial sectors, it is used to detectcomponent failures i.e. cracks or flaws and thereby determine componentquality. Due to the possibility to control parameters such as beam angle andfocal distance, this method is very efficient regarding the defect detection andspeed of testing. Phased array can also be used for wall thicknessmeasurements in conjunction with corrosion testing. Phased array can be usedfor the following industrial purposes:

Inspection of Welds Thickness measurements Corrosion inspection Flaw detection

TOFD: Time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) method of ultrasonic testing is asensitive and accurate method for the non-destructive testing of welds fordefects.Digital Radiography: Digital radiography is a form of X-ray imaging, wheredigital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film.Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing
