Belgian breweries to produce exotic and organic mushrooms.
This young company produces nearly four tons of mushrooms
per month in the Caves of Cureghem (Abattoir of Anderlecht),

been passionate about growing and developing Lambada
strawberries at Les Vergers Micolombe. Some say that
if you’ve never eaten a Lambada strawberry, you’ve never

FRESH THICK CUT FRIESDelivered daily from a family farm that has been growing their potatoes
in a sustainable way since 1924. We prepare between four and five
tons of fresh fries, which we thick cut. This local production in Meise,
approximately 15 km from Brussels, allows us to double fry our delicious
fries.
BRUXSELSA bread made...with spent brewer’s grains!
Since the beginning of 2019, we’ve been working with
the Wetternoise bakery. This Brussells bakery, founded
in 1947, offers its artisan bread, BruXSels. To make
BruXSels, Wetterenoise uses local flours and mixes in
spent brewers grain from a regional beer which is itself
made from fermented breads! This initiative is part of the
circular economy. Enjoy! You can also find it in Lowy by

VERT D’IRIS COOPERATIVE VEGETABLE GARDEN
Vert d’Iris International is a cooperative vegetable garden
which cultivates 1.5 hectares at Anderlecht using an
agroforestry approach. It supplies fruits, vegetables,
herbs & spices and edible flowers via Brussells-style short
channels. It also conducts training activities, converts its
crop surpluses and conducts aquaponics testing.

After the 1695 bombardment left a large part of the
buildings on the Grand-Place in ruins, the guilds
were responsible for its reconstruction. The bakers’
guild rebuilt the Roy d’Espagne at number 1, Grand-
Place, in 1697. The bust of the patron saint of
bakers, Saint Aubert, can still be seen right above the
main entrance, watching over his artisans.
On the second floor, Charles II’s bust decorates the
façade and gives his name to the building. At the time
Charles II was king of Spain and sovereign of the
Southern Netherlands, which included present-day
Belgium. Having been damaged during the French
Revolution, the building fell into a state of serious
disrepair, but was restored in 1902 at the prompting
of the then mayor of Brussels, Charles Buls.
It was used as a café and afterwards as an
ironmongery, of which the gallery remains on the
first floor, before finally reverting to its previous use
in 1954. This side of the Grand-Place offers the most
glamorous view of what Jean Cocteau named ‘the
world’s most beautiful theatre’.
