Project BIA is one of the ongoing pro-jects at the ADAS Lab in collaboration with Ayton Willow Ltd. UK. The aim is to develop a crossover three wheel vehicle which combines the agility and economy of a motorbike while en-suring the comfort and safety of a car. The two-seater vehicle features a dy-namic suspension design which tilts the vehicle in the direction of turning to en-sure stability at high speeds, additional-ly, the vehicle also features variable road clearance and track to adjust to the di-verse Pakistani road conditions. The project is done using high perfor-mance computing and design techniques. CAD modeling is done in CREOTM, dy-namic crash tests are simulated in LS-DynaTM, implicit stress analysis is per-formed in Marc MentatTM to ensure the structural safety of the car. Suspension and vehicle dynamics are computed with the aid of Matlab/SimulinkTM.

  • ADAS offers executive trainings and short courses to safety conscious trans-portation companies in Pakistan. These trainings enable logistics managers to understand and thus better implement safety practices and protocols on their fleets, cutting down on huge corporate costs of accidents and saving human lives.

1 & 2 days executive trainings on intro-duction to crash safety.

Introduction, historical perspective, regulations, truck and tanker safety, transportation of oil and other haz-ardous goods.

1 day executive training on implement-ing ORGA regulations on oil fleets.

Introduction, OGRA regulations, truck and tanker safety, practical Implementations of OGRA regulations.

Comprehensive one week (25 teaching hours) training on automotive safety.

Introduction, historical perspective, active safety, passive safety, biomechanics, HTV engineering, regulations, issues in Pakistan, design techniques, selected topics in road design, oil and freight carriers, motor cycle safety.

Furthermore, ADAS offers customized courses to its corporate clients to best cater their individual requirements.

ADAS is the first of its kind lab in Pakistan which provides Automotive Electronics So-lutions including (but not limited to) micro-controller based embedded system solutions, automotive sensors and actuator systems, real time engine data acquisition and diag-nostics, real time fleet tracking/management systems and infotainment Systems.

    Kalar Kahar Accident: Case study

On 27th September, 2011 31 students and 6 adults died in a tragic accident on the motor-way M-2 near Kalar Kahar. ADAS conduct-ed an engineering investigation on the acci-dent in 2012.

FEM analysis and coherent testing approach was developed by using LS-DYNA and LS-Pre-Post. And the vehicle was crash tested. It was found that the superstructure of the vehicle failed on 1.25 times its own weight on inversion. The vehicle did not meet FMVSS and ECE roof integrity standards by a large margin.

3D Modeling using PTC Creo 2.0TM

ADAMSTM and CATIATM. (Part mod-eling, Assembly, Surfacing, Mecha-nisms, engineering drawings and manu-facturing)

    Finite Element Modeling: Crash test

analysis and stress analysis on Ansys 14.0TM & LS-DynaTM and Marc Men-tatTM.

    Visual enhancement and animation us-

ing 3DS MaxTM & Cinema 4D.TM SOP development for implementing

safety regulations and procedures of cor-porate fleets.

    Design and implementation of active

    safety electronic systems.
