Lamborghini:  A Living Legend Ferruccio Lamborghini was born in Renazzo, a little village near

Bologna, on the 28th of April 1916.

He completed his technical studies in Bologna and soon after during the Second World War he was put in charge of vehicle maintenance in Rhodes, Greece. 

He started buying old military vehicles converting them into tractors, something that Italy desperately needed after the War.

The production of helicopters, one of his life-long passions, but he was stopped by the Government’s refusal to grant him a license.

He opened a car factory in Sant'Agata in 1963, which started delivering cars in 1964: in doing so, the legend was started.

Contd… The year 1972 however, Ferruccio was forced to sell 51% of the

company to a Swiss businessman, Georges-Henri Rossetti. Then in 1974 he sold the remaining 49% shares to a friend of Rossetti, René Leimer.

They signed agreement with BMW for the production of a small series of sporting cars which was annulled by the German Company in 1978.

This situation lasted until July 1980 when the Bologna Court decided to sell the Company to the Mimran Brothers, well known tycoons in the food industry.

Because of fast and demanding upon capital expenditure the need for a professional and strong partner became obvious and Chrysler seemed to be an ideal choice signed on the 23rd of April 1987.

In 1991 Balance Sheet showed profit. In January 1994 Chysler Corporation agreed to sell Automobili Lamborghini to MegaTech, a company which is part of the Indonesian Group Sedtco.

Contd… In 1994 Lamborghini won, for the first time, the Class 1 World Off-shore

championship, setting a leadership that continues on today.

In 1995 the shareholders became V’Power (60%), Indonesian company controlled by Tommy Suharto, and MyCom (40%), Malaysian company controlled by Jeff Yap.

In November 1996 Vittorio Di Capua, of FIAT group, become president and chief executive officer of Automobili Lamborghini with the difficult task to recover the company from a very difficult situation of heavy losses. Under his leadership strong action in cost cutting and restructuring has brought Lamborghini’s balance sheet black figures.

In 1997, for the first time after many years, thus attracting institutional investors interested in the acquisition of such a prestigious brand.

On the 24 of July 1998 an agreement between the shareholders of Lamborghini and Audi was signed in London for the complete take-over of the Company.

Contd… In September 1998 Rodolfo Rocchio, an Italian engineer with

many years experience within the Audi group, was appointed co-CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

In January 1999 the company was restructured. Today Automobili Lamborghini Holding with its President Franz-Josef Paefgen, has full control of three separate companies.

In June 1999 Vittorio Di Capua resigned as President and co-CEO of Automobili Lamborghini .

Giuseppe Greco, a manager with a wide experience in the automotive field with Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, has been appointed President of Automobili Lamborghini and co-CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Holding.

Exterior The supercar is 4.78 meters long, 2.26 meters wide, and

only 1.136 meters high.

All of the aerodynamic elements are integrated into the body shell form, from the front spoiler to the rear diffuser, while the rear spoiler is deployable and controlled electronically.

Up front the Aventador gets an air guide further emphasized by glossy, black frames, and bi-xenon headlamps.

The passenger doors will open upwards towards the sky.

Two large air intakes behind the upward-opening doors are used for a better cooling engine.

Customers will have the ability to choose from 13 exterior colors in pastel metallic, pearlescent, or matte.

Interior The revolutionary gauges that acted like the instruments of a jet plane were the first in a line of new technologies that would evolve into the Aventador.

Instrumentation for the Aventador is displayed on a large LCD screen while a completely independent system and LCD screen controls stereo and navigation functions.

The center console of the car sound like your car is a robot by calling it the, “Human-Machine Interface.”

The full leather single-color interior is available in either Nero Alde (black) or in Marrone Elpis, with the contrasting stitching offered in a range of colors.

The Aventador will be offered with ABS, electronic brake distribution, anti-slip control, speed-dependent servo-tronic steering, hill start assist and, of course, ESP stability control.

The Aventador LP700-4 will be using Lamborghini's new 690 bhp (510 kW) 6.5 liter 60° V-12 engine.

Performance is estimated to be 0–62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of around 349 km/h (217 mph).

Fuel mileage is 14 miles per US gallon (17 L/100 km; 17 mpg).

Its transmission, a single-clutch 7-speed semi-automatic, Although being single-clutch, gear-shifts are accomplished in 50 milliseconds.

The brand new, electronically controlled, Four-wheel drive system.

Competition Numbers aren’t too far from each other with the Aventador’s 700 horsepower, 2.9-second 0-60 mph time, and 217 mph top speed going up

against the Ferrari 599 GTO’s 670 horsepower, 3.3-second 0-60 mph time, and 208 mph top speed time.

Other companies will be having there chance to take a shot at this raging bull including Pagani and McLaren. Many people know little about these companies.

The McLaren already promises similar performance from a smaller and more economical twin-turbo V8 engine. The Pagani will be utilizing an AMG V12 like the past models and have a peak output close to the new Lamborghini.

In a perfect world, we would love to see these new cars on one track at the same time to duel it out for bragging rights.

Pricing The new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 will started selling in

late summer 2011 at a price of $387,000.

If you are truly in the market for one, there are far too many bespoke options to choose from – we would certainly want to go through the design process ourselves and order one from the factory in Italy.

Future versions LB835 Roadster- Six months after unveiling the Aventador,

plans for a roadster version were leaked by the U.S. after it included the model on a data sheet on its website, with an aluminum double wishbone suspension and a carbon ceramic brake system.
