INTRODUCTION:-

The Bar Feeding mechanism is a metal cutting machine tool designed to feed the metal.

The machine is exclusively intended for mass production and they

represent faster and more efficient way to feed the metal .

Automatic Bar feeding mechanism consists of three major blocks. They are :-

NEED FOR AUTOMATION:-

Nowadays almost all the manufacturing process is being automised in order to deliver the products at a faster rate.

The manufacturing operation is being automised for the following reasons,1. To achieve mass production2. To reduce man power3. To increase the efficiency of the plant4. To reduce the work load5. To reduce the production cost6. To reduce the production time7. To reduce the material handling8. To reduce the fatigue of workers9. To achieve good product quality

AC MOTOR

The rotary motion of the Circular steel cutting blade (silicon carbide blade), which is where the cutting process takes place, is produced with the help of an AC motor .

The steel rollers are used to feed the metal pipe by the help of another feeding motor.

A microcontroller is a small computer on a single integrated circuit containing a processer core memory and programmable input/output peripherals.

The microcontroller plays the most important rule in controlling the electric motors and work piece in the programmed sequence perfectly.

AT89C51 has four input and output ports constituting a total of 32 individual inputs and output pins.

These controllers are widely used for the purpose of automation because of they are easy to program and sufficient for most of the smaller applications.

MICROCONTROLLER:-

LCD DISPLAY:- LCD display shown in figure is used to view the inputs such

as number of pieces to be cut, length of each piece to be cut, that the user specifies through keypad.

The LCD prompts the user to enter his data.

A 4 * 3 keypad shown in figure is used by the operating person to specify the number of pieces to be cut and length of each piece.

The controller receives the inputs and displays it on LCD and also

uses it for performing the cutting process.

The Star key is used as a Reset button and Hash key is used as Enter key.

The operator will be able to give the length of each piece to be cut

only in terms of centimetre and there shall be no decimal points in the length.

KEYPAD:-

The motor will be rotated, so that the bar is moving from initial position to the determined position.

IR sensor unit is used to determine the bar dimension to be cut.

The steel roller is used to clamp the work piece automatically with the help of IR sensor unit. The circular cutting blade gives horizontal feed to the bar provided by operator .
