DYMAG IS AN ELITE, BRITISH WHEEL DESIGN AND MANUFACTURER WITH AN UNPARALLELED HISTORY OF INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY IN MOTORSPORT.

Leading the way in wheel design and production for over four decades, we pioneered the manufacture of carbon hybrid automotive and monobloc motorcycle wheels, for racing and road use.

Today, Dymag Performance Wheels offer a range of carbon, magnesium and alloy wheels for motorcycle racing and road use, as well as our latest creation, the patented BOXSTROM® carbon composite automotive wheel.

Named in honour of Dymag’s founder Max Boxstrom. The BOXSTROM® carbon barrel, ensures load path optimisation (removing stress raisers) and utilises a sacrificial layer to protect the load path. This is teamed with a high specification forged aluminium centrepiece. The result is a wheel that is up to 40% lighter than forged aluminium and with a 40% lower moment of inertia, improving all elements of driving performance.

Drivers will experience faster acceleration, sharper braking, as well as vastly superior road handling; all without compromising safety.

Already a huge hit with many leading car manufacturers, the BOXSTROM® is available to the aftermarket as the 7Y and 7X, combining exceptional performance benefits with stunning design. Dymag is expanding into the US aftermarket via a strategic partnership with ADV.1, a subsidiary of the WELD Racing, LLC., and leader in aftermarket performance wheels.

Dymag is a company with its heritage firmly rooted in racing. From the early 1970’s, we quickly established a reputation for pioneering innovation with die-cast magnesium wheels for major F1 and Indy car teams and their drivers as well as inventing the world’s first 3-spoke magnesium motorcycle racing wheel.

Dymag was the first company in the world to manufacture carbon composite wheels for both high performance motorcycles and cars certified for road and race use. Uniquely, Dymag manufactures lightweight wheels in high quality forged magnesium, aluminium and lightweight carbon composites. We believe no other company has the capability and technology to do this.

1974 Max Boxstrom forms ‘Competition Wheels’ later to become Dymag.

1975 - 94 Dymag invent world’s first 3 spoke magnesium moto racing wheel used by World Champions including Eddie Lawson and Barry Sheene.

Dymag die-cast magnesium wheels supplied to FI and IndyCar driven by racing legends such as Senna, Prost and Mansell.

1990’s Dymag launch world’s first one piece and two piece carbon motorcycle wheels for racing and aftermarket.

2011 The brand is relaunched by CEO Chris Shelley and key former employees.

2015 Dymag secures new venture capital investment and wins £7.2m UKTI funding programme to develop advanced manufacturing process in consortium with the UK National Composites Centre, Bristol.

OVER 40 YEARS HERITAGE IN ELITE MOTORSPORT

Formula OneMcLaren, Williams, Tyrrell, Jordan Arrows and Simtek used Dymags, including several branded as other well known international brands, until the mid 90s.

IndyCar - Indy 500Lola and Reynard fitted Dymag Aerodynamic wheels as OEM to all cars supplied to US Champ Car series in 90s. Arie Luyendyk recorded the fastest ever lap in unofficial qualifying at 1996 Indianapolis 500 , averaging 239.260mph, on Dymag low drag wheels. Nigel Mansell wins IndyCar series for Newman Hass Lola team in 1994 on Dymags.

Paris Dakkar RallyDymags used on the dominant Mitsubishi Pajeros through the 90s.

Le Mans 24hDymags were used widely in GT Racing and Le Mans, culminating in the legendary Jaguar XJR-9 win in 1988.

World of MotorsportDymag supplied a wide range of applications including Touring Cars, GT, Rally Corvette Challenge and IMSA.

Dymag has continually sought to use the most advanced materials and latest manufacturing technology in its pursuit of being the go-to motorcycle racing wheel for two-wheeled champions.

Dymag is once again at the pinnacle of road and track racing, supplying championship-winning teams in the Superbike and Supertwin classes, as well as the historic Classic TT categories, claiming a series of lap records across every racing class.

Dymag CA5 Carbon Composite wheels are also now at the forefront of British Championship Supersport class with Spirit Motorcycles.

The Dymag UP7X is the undisputed fastest-ever wheel at the Isle of Man, launching Michael Dunlop to a breath-taking, eye-watering speed of 133.962mph.

LOW MOMENT OF INERTIA

All Dymag wheels are born from the same meticulous design process, including a thorough engineering & optimisation phase where all unnecessary material (where durability will not be impacted) is carved away.

The result is a range of wheels with a super low moment of inertia (MOI). Design for low MOI reduces the amount of energy required to overcome inertia resulting in vastly improved acceleration, braking & directional changes; a low MOI offers supreme handling.

LIGHT WEIGHT

The light weight nature of all Dymag wheels utilising low density materials offers a huge reduction over original equipment (OE) wheels. Newton told us that a force acting on a body of lower mass (Dymag wheels) will accelerate faster than the competition. We trust Newton.

The first carbon composite wheels developed by Dymag were 3 spoke motorcycle wheels, which went on to be used by the Phase One Kawasaki Endurance Team in 1996, winning the World Endurance Championship that year.

The company also produced a range of 2 piece carbon wheels with magnesium spokes for Ducati Performance, and the aftermarket, before moving onto the hugely popular one piece CA5, which has been supplied to many racing and aftermarket customers during the past 10 years. There were even wire spoke carbon motorcycle wheels for the Ducati Monster and KTM Superduke.

In 2004 Dymag launched the 9 spoke Dymag Carbon Composite wheel, based on a hybrid design, initially with magnesium and later with a forged aluminium spoke system.

Dymag Carbon Hybrid Wheels were used on a wide range of applications and OEM fitments to the Koenigsegg CCX, Mosler and other niche sports car manufacturers.

Over 10 years later, the BOXSTROM® represents the next generation in composite wheel technology, the lightest, stiffest and strongest carbon wheel ever made by Dymag.

Dymag began developing carbon composite motorcycle wheels in 1994, designed to meet the fatigue and durability standards for street use in aftermarket and racing, unlike any carbon wheels that had gone before.

The Dymag BOXSTROM® Carbon Hybrid Wheel offers many technical advantages: • Typically 40% lighter than standard cast aluminium wheels• Typically 25% lighter than equivalent OEM forged aluminium wheels, tested to the same OEM standards • 30% to 40% lower moment of inertia than aluminium cast and forged wheels

The BOXSTROM® is stronger than any carbon wheel ever made by Dymag: • The BOXSTROM® barrel successfully achieved over 2.5 million cycles on radial fatigue testing at loads

up to 1,913kg. That’s close to three times as much load as a wheel experiences from the corner of a typical passenger vehicle

• The 20 inch barrel is tested and certified to be used for static vehicle loads of over 750kg per vehicle corner

The BOXSTROM® is stiffer than any carbon wheel ever made by Dymag.

In impact testing (that simulates lateral kerbing and driving over a kerb) the BOXSTROM® wheel fully meets SAE testing standards.

The BOXSTROM® range of barrels and wheels is constantly expanding in sizes from 16” to 24”.

In recent years, the entire automotive industry has aggressively embraced the light-weighting of vehicles, not only to improve handling performance, but also to reduce hydrocarbon emissions and extend electric vehicle range.
