ACad Lesson 3 Rebecca Reeves 29/10/12 Start – New - Open with no template – metric
Save the drawing
Using the offset tool, (O) we can select a distance or use points already on the drawing, then click on the selected line you want to offset.
make sure to check the setting. Press Ctrl and right click, select all settings exept the ‘nearest’ tool.

The first circle offset here are done using the measurement of the lines, the circles further out are the measurements that I have typed in.
TR – trim, select the cutting edges, press spacebar and then trim out what you don’t need. To cut out the lines just simply drag across the area.

Alternatively press spacebar to select all. This enables you to trim without having a cutting edge.

Finding the centre point, the offset is then 800. Use trim tool to trim the lines at the end.
CO to copy, then select the items and press enter or spacebar to confirm. You can then copy as many as needed.

Array can create multiple copies.
Here, select the circle tool, then just hover the curser over the end points, follow the green line, then do it with the 2nd line and the point will meet. Then click to draw the circle. The snaps must be on.

Then the items you want to mirror, and it then flips across.

Then by using the trim tool, I have trimmed the excess circles that I don’t need.
Drawing a Bracket

by using the mirror tools its allot easier than drawing out each shape and then using the trim tool.
One one corner is draw out it than then be mirrored across to save time.

Processes
Make sure before starting a new command that you exit your previous commands. This can be done my pressing ESC.
Enter a command, Then press spacebar
Exit all commands before starting a new
one. This can be done by pressing ESC
Observe command bar, are they
appropriate for what we need?
If yes, select the option…..
If no…follow directions
When selecting objects OK selection
by pressing spacebar/Enter
Look to command bar for further sub
commands/pointers.
Press spacebar to finish the command.
By hitting spacebar again, it repeats the previous command,
and distance
