At Australian Christian College, nurturing a child’s development is a responsibility we relish with great delight. The opportunity to equip and encourage a student is considered an immeasurable blessing.

Like you, we view the children in our care as more than one dimensional. They are precious and vulnerable. They have tender hearts and impressionable minds.

It is with this belief in mind that we educate the ‘whole child’. We do this by maintaining a learning environment that has been purposefully constructed to allow each student to thrive spiritually, academically, socially and physically.

A common sentiment expressed by many parents is the school’s caring atmosphere. Teachers and students treat each other with respect. You can feel assured that your child will be protected as part of this harmonious and cooperative community.

You’ll appreciate the inclusive and flexible nature of this school. You see, we offer co-educational classes from Prep to Year 12. What’s more, the school is also registered to deliver distance education.

Australian Christian College is an exceptional place. I invite you to learn more.

Primary SchoolPrep – Year 6

In Junior School the academic focus is on ensuring students acquire the foundational skills of reading, writing and arithmetic. If a solid foundation is laid at this early stage of their schooling journey, then ‘learning gaps’ will not prohibit their ability to thrive in later years.

At this stage of learning, natural curiosity is a powerful ally for teachers. Students have an interest in the world around them. Teachers tap into this interest to get the best out of these young minds.

A great experience in the first years of schooling can make all of the difference as a child develops.

» Our academic program is focused on building a strong foundation for learning through a rigorous study of literacy (English) and numeracy (Maths). We use a blended phonics approach to reading.

» Our new facilities include the latest advances in learning environments such as interactive whiteboards. Our classes are small by design.

» Technology is thoughtfully integrated into the learning program.

After spending 7 years in Junior School, your child will be ready to confidently enter Middle School.

Middle School Years 7 – 9

Middle School encourages students to develop and hone their God-given gifts. Students become more self-aware, learning their own strengths and weaknesses.

The Middle School program is for students in Years 7 to 9. The program includes challenge-based and inquiry learning to encourage students to ask big questions and take ownership of their learning. The program includes:

» Opportunities for learning in Maths, English, Science, Bible, Technology, History, Geography, Visual Art, HPE, Sport and Music.

» Opportunities for participation and leadership in chapel and other school activities.

» Students are encouraged to take ownership of their personal technology. The school provides a commercial-grade wireless network for internet access and a range of media equipment for presentations.

Exposure to this comprehensive program during Middle School will ensure your child is well prepared for Senior College.

Senior College Years 10 – 12

When students enter Senior College the focus moves to advanced competencies in readiness for post-school life.

At this formative time of life, students have the opportunity to embrace their God-given potential and to explore a rich and meaningful life in Christ.

The following courses are currently offered:

» Year 10: Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Bible, HPE and Sport.

» Years 11-12: Maths, Prevocational Maths, English, English Communication, Modern History, Biology, Physics, Business Communication Technology, Physical Education, Art, Technology, Recreational Studies and Bible. Please note, additional university and VET subjects are available through third party providers.

In Senior College, every student is encouraged to be their best, in readiness for the challenges and opportunities of life after school.

We are very pleased that our children have the opportunity to learn in a Christian environment with dedicated teachers and staff. My daughters have grown both in their academic achievements and spiritual walk since coming to Australian Christian College.

Learning often occurs spontaneously in settings outside the classroom. To ensure this impromptu learning flourishes, the school offers a range of co-curricular options.

Co-curricular opportunities cover the Arts, sport and public speaking. Your child may decide to take to the stage, spike volleyballs or debate climate change.

The Arts allows students to express their unique personality. Students are engaged in an integrated arts program from Prep to Year 10.

Sport is a vital part of school life at Australian Christian College. It helps to promote cooperation and team spirit. Students are encouraged to strive for their personal best, while demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship. Sports played include athletics, basketball, volleyball, swimming, AFL and soccer.

The confidence that public speaking instills is well documented. As such, public speaking is incorporated into the curriculum for the benefit of all students.

Students are able to serve with our charity partner Compassion Australia through fundraising and overseas mission trips.

With so many co-curricular opportunities available, most students have trouble deciding what to do!

A GREAT EDUCATION IS MORE THAN SIMPLY ACADEMICS

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Australian Christian College has a surprising number of co curricular activities on offer for such a small school. My child has participated in before school athletics training, after school basketball and volleyball training. He has been an active member of the Future Leaders Program. He also participates in choir and violin and is a regular participant in Chapel services.

I love coming to school each day. Australian Christian College is a great place to work. I am free to be me, the person God created me to be. Every day I have the privilege of encouraging, helping, guiding and nurturing the children in my care, in their relationship with a loving Heavenly Father and towards reaching the God given potential in each of their lives. I am blessed with a network of wonderful Christian colleagues who have become good friends.

FOR TEACHERS AT AUSTRALIAN CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, THIS IS MORE THAN A JOB

TEACHERS CARE WHAT STUDENTS BECOME

This is a place where God’s precious creations are lovingly cherished by Christian teachers who genuinely care.

As you can appreciate, the quality of the teachers reflects the quality of education being delivered. At Australian Christian College we are blessed to have approachable and dedicated teachers who are profoundly committed to nurturing the ‘whole child’.

To maintain the school’s high standards of teaching and learning, the teaching team engage in regular professional development. They stretch each other to deliver better lessons and share strategies for improving student learning.

Our teachers don’t withdraw to the staff room at every opportunity. Come behind the scenes and you’ll notice teachers listening to students talk about their hobbies and aspirations.

As a result of the teachers, the school benefits from an immensely cheerful and vibrant community of students who are eager to do their best.

Your child has many things vying for their affection. Amid all the earthly temptations, we are working to ensure the school delivers a positive spiritual influence on your child.

Academic rigour and co-curricular opportunities are undoubtedly important, however we are striving to have an eternal impact on the students.

Importantly, our approach to laying a biblical foundation in every student is one of human inquiry. The school does not brainwash nor indoctrinate the students. As you know, Christianity is based on historical events and documented evidence. Students are encouraged to investigate the facts.

Christian values and beliefs are weaved into the very fabric of the school through a biblically consistent learning program, Christian teachers, regular prayer and weekly chapel services.

Stemming from our Christian ethos, we value:

» Lord Jesus Christ, friend of sinners, and saviour of those who believe in Him

» Academic success

» A diversity of student opportunities

» Service in local and global communities

Visit the school and you’ll experience a community of young learners who are gracious and warm-hearted.

Nowadays, students need an education delivered in a manner vastly different from the one which you would have experienced. To accommodate that demand, Australian Christian College has digitally enabled classrooms, advanced pedagogical methods and an online learning program.

This whole of school approach – called Digital Natives – ensures students will have the skills required to tackle the post-school world of work and further study.

Today’s student is a digital native. They don’t know what it is like to live in a world without the internet, social media and mobile technology. As a school community, we see this as a great opportunity to educate students in the ethical and effective use of technology.

Digital Natives extends deeper into school life with a learning environment that is conducive to digital connectivity. The campus has wifi broadband access in all learning spaces and students conduct research from digital textbooks and ebooks.

Plus, every student has their own email address through Google Apps and access to their courses via the online learning portal.

Importantly, the school is vigilant regarding the ethical use of technology. Students take part in annual cybersafety courses and the school invites the Queensland Police to hold safety seminars as well.

Around the globe, digital technology is changing the way people live, work and learn. Australian Christian College is committed to ensuring our students are ready for this digital world.

THE SCHOOL IS DEVELOPING DIGITALLY FLUENT ANDRESPONSIBLE STUDENTS

EMBRACING THE DIGITAL WORLD

Our family has welcomed the opportunity to trial the online activities to enhance the family learning within the context of the excellence of the ACE curriculum. The teacher communication is swift and encouraging for each student and activity. My favourite activity was watching my son make a spreadsheet from the the calculations on the specific Maths PACE. This boy changed his attitude from dull to delighted when he saw that he could do something so impressive without fuss. We love the staff and the use of ACE in our home. We trust that God will bless the diligence of the righteous.

Distance education is the educational practice where your child is enrolled with a registered distance education school and they conduct their academic work at home under your supervision.

Distance education is a legislated mode of schooling where teaching and learning takes place without the teacher and student being in the same physical location.

As a registered distance education school, Australian Christian College provides the learning program and distance education teachers, and you allocate a study area at home from which your child works.

Distance education is not limited to those in remote areas like correspondence schools used to be. Many distance education students live in cities and large regional towns, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton.

Distance education provides many benefits, including:

» Your child is able to focus on their work in a loving environment.

» You are able to maintain close family relationships throughout the school day.

» You become an active participant in your child’s education. You provide your home environment as an ideal context for your children’s education knowing you have the full support of the school.

» The tight family unit that develops as a result of at-home education allows family values to be nurtured.

» As a distance education student, your child will interact socially with people across the complete age-range of society. Through this interaction they are able to acquire the rules of behaviour, and the beliefs and attitudes that will allow them to function effectively as members of our society.

DISTANCE EDUCATION IS SCHOOLING AT A DISTANCE

LEARNINGAT A DISTANCE

Nathan (DE Student)

Distance Education is really good because I don’t need to travel to school each day which means that time can be more productive. Therefore I can get my school work done during the day at my pace and keep my evenings free from studying. Activity days are awesome as we catch up with friends and participate in a variety of activities.

TESTIMONIALS

Our children have had the opportunity to develop leadership skills and become independent learners in a small Christian, family environment. This school has cared about the whole child.

Rochelle (Parent)

As a new student to Moreton it has been a positive experience. Everyone has been exceptionally friendly and nice, I have completed so much work since coming here. I have enjoyed the teachers and everybody is very kind and welcoming.

Annabel (Student)

As a parent, I am impressed with the individual attention my children receive every single day; academically and spiritually. I wish we had known about the school years ago! The wider school community has been a real support to myself and my children after the recent loss of my eldest son. We love the school!

Tracie (Parent)

I like worshipping God, being involved in Chapel, and playing with my friends. My friends are really supportive and they always remind me that Jesus is with me. The teachers are all nice, supportive and they help you achieve your goals.

Ella (Student)

Teaching at Australian Christian College has been a wonderful experience in many ways. We have been given opportunities to teach our students about the grace and love that God gives. We have the blessing to lead children to know the Lord through conversation and prayer.

Robyn (Teacher)

Being a teacher at Australian Christian College has been a rewarding experience. We have a great support network where we can continue to improve as teachers. It has been a joy to be a Christian role model to our students. I love being able to teach, equip and influence my students in every aspect of their learning and their journey with the Lord.

Michelle (Teacher)

As a graduate of ACC Moreton, the teachers were always supportive and approachable. You always knew they wanted what was best for you and as a result of my education at ACC, I am currently a second year Uni student gaining high marks for the majority of my studies. I enjoyed being part of the school band at Chapel and the school provided the stepping stones for me to become a Godly leader in the community and my local church.

The teachers are great, caring, loving and very helpful. The atmosphere is extremely friendly. The children get along with others. There is no bullying. Small classes allow more one to one time with teachers. Teachers love parents to volunteer in the classroom and it s fun!
