Financial gain through Tourism

Australia has a very strong tourism market and it contributes a significant amount each year to Australia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). According

to www.tra.gov.au, the total visitor spend for the 2013-2014 financial year was $101.6 billion! This is an increase from the previous year of 4%.

In the same year, over 6.1 million international travellers visited Australia. Overall, Australia’s tourism industry contributes $42.3 billion to the GDP and there are over 543,600 people employed directly in tourism based

jobs. This is an significant amount and contributes to the overall increase of the Australian economy for the last 23years.

Peak Travel times As Australia is very well known for its famous sandy beaches, it’s not surprising that the peak travel times are associated with the warmer seasons of Spring and Summer. About Australia.com have compared the peak travel times in Australia to flight costs throughout the year. The peak period of time which has the most expensive flights, is from 9th December – 31st January. From the 1st February – 30th April and 9th

June – 23rd July is the shoulder period, and has moderately priced flights. The cheapest time to travel to Australia is during the colder

months from 1st May – 8th June and the 27th September – 8th December each year.

Health & SafetyAustralia is generally considered an extremely safe place to travel due to a number of reasons. Our safe infrastructure, high health standards

and stable political system all make Australia an enjoyable place to visit. Like anywhere, it is recommended that travel insurance that includes medical cover is taken out before travelling to Australia.

No special immunisations or vaccinations are needed before travelling into our country unless you have previously been in an area that has

been exposed to yellow fever within 6 days of your arrival. Always check that medical advice hasn’t changed before embarking on your
