We received a valuable injection of funds for our school and it will be put to great use to ensure our students receive current and up to date resources for their learning. A community fundraising event such as this is truly a fantastic way to support both our community and our school, we would like to thank the Bowling Club for allowing us to be a recipient, in the end both organisations come out as winners. This Wednesday evening staff are staying late for some professional learning, the theme of the evening is around collecting and using data. We are fortunate in having department personnel coming to our school and providing us learning where we are able to keep up to date with current trends and practices. Teaching staff from Caragabal and Quandialla will be joining us. The Grenfell show is on this weekend, so do not forget to set aside some time to head on up and check the exhibitions in the pavilions of the work our students have submitted. It is always wonderful to see the display of our students work. Happy Father’s Day to all of our dads next Sunday. I hope you are surprised with a lovely gift from our Father’s Day Stall to be held this Friday 30 th August. Every class will head up to the hall to purchase that something special for their dad. Gifts range in price form $1-$6 and the raffle will be drawn during the Whole School Assembly. Visiting our local Library

In the lead up to our Book Week Parade, the local librarian

Erica has invited our Stage 1 students to the town library to

participate in some activities and get to know the library

better. Over the next two weeks students from KK, K/1 and

2 Orange will attend these small group sessions.

What a glorious day we had last Friday, if it isn’t going to rain we may as well have some pleasant weather

and last Friday was great. The District carnival was the culmination of a lot of organising and hard work.

Thank you to Mr and Mrs Kilby who led the charge and to the staff behind them who offered great support

when needed. Mia and her team, once again combined to supply us with plenty of food to fuel our energy for

the day. The commitment of Mia and her team is amazing and we are very grateful for all that you do. My role

as marshal on Friday allowed me to see our students be responsible, respectful and resilient young people.

They demonstrated great responsibility in making it to their events on time, being respectful not just the

adults but also the students from within the district and resilient when they had finished their events to

congratulate others who may have been placed in front of them. It was a day where we can be truly proud of

our youth and hopeful that our future is in good hands. Information regarding the regional carnival was

handed out on the day, if you have any questions please contact us here at school.

Mention must be made of the Henry Lawson High School who allowed us to use their facilities, without their

support the carnival may not have ran as smoothly. A great addition to the day was also some of the high

school students who helped with timekeeping. We had many positive comments come our way from visitors

to our town about their appreciation of the encouragement and positivity these young adults demonstrated to

the competitors. A proud moment for our schools and community reminding us about what great young

people we are raising together.

Last Friday night also saw Grenfell Public School as the recipients of the money raised from the trivia night at

the Bowling club. Thank you to the staff and parents who came along to support our school. We received a

valuable injection of funds for our school and it will be put to great use to ensure our students receive current

and up to date resources for their learning. A community fundraising event such as this is truly a fantastic way

to support both our community and our school, we would like to thank the Bowling Club for allowing us to be a

recipient, in the end both organisations come out as winners.

This Wednesday evening staff are staying late for some professional learning, the theme of the evening is

around collecting and using data. We are fortunate in having department personnel coming to our school and

providing us learning where we are able to keep up to date with current trends and practices. Teaching staff

from Caragabal and Quandialla will be joining us.

The Grenfell show is on this weekend, so do not forget to set aside some time to head on up and check the

exhibitions in the pavilions of the work our students have submitted. It is always wonderful to see the display

of our students work.

Happy Father’s Day to all of our dads next Sunday. I hope you are surprised with a lovely gift from our Father’s

Day Stall to be held this Friday 30th August. Every class will head up to the hall to purchase that something

special for their dad. Gifts range in price form $1-$6 and the raffle will be drawn during the Whole School

Assembly.

Cowra District Athletics Carnival

On Friday 23rd August, Grenfell Public School hosted the Cowra District Athletics Carnival at the

Henry Lawson High School Oval. We had 240 students competing on the day from 13 different

schools around the Cowra district. All students on the day demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship

and we were lucky enough to have a number of new records broken including these Grenfell Public

School students. Sophie Hughes (snr girls discus), Penny Hughes (8yr girls 100m), Arianna

Steadman (1500m), James Wright (1500m) and Maddison Martins (1500m). Congratulations

also to Marco Joyce who won 11yr Boy Champion. Well done to all students who competed on

Friday. A huge thankyou to our P&C for running the canteen and to those parents, high school

students and staff who helped with field events, timekeeping and set up.

What's happening in our Classrooms In Personal Health and Development, 4 Violet are learning about Road Safety and the importance of wearing a helmet when riding bikes, scooters and skateboards. In this particular experiment, he children were required to construct a device that would keep the egg safe if dropped or thrown. The egg was used to resemble a child's head.
