Grand Champion!  We’ve certainly seen this young ladyin the Buzz  during past Northeast Montana Fair days, andnow here she is again, with her overall Grand Championand Heavyweight Grand Champion 4-H market beef

project. Take a bow, Brooke Westby! Norm Sillerud of Hi-Line Ford was the purchaser, paying $4.75 for per pound:$6,625.25 worth of t-bones, rib-eyes, roasts and burger.We can almost smell Norm’s Big Green Egg now....

Overall Reserve —  The market beef judge likedwhat he saw in a few of these heavyweight steersas Mick Reyling took Overall Reserve Champion afterwrapping up the Heavyweight Reserve Champion.

  Gladys Teo “Jody” Opheim,84, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, atthe Help for Health Hospice Home.  Memorial services will be heldon Saturday, August 9th, 2014,at the Opheim Lutheran Churchat 10:00 a.m. with Pastor DavidRogenes officiating. Inurnment willbe at Lawndale Cemetery east ofOpheim followed by a reception atthe Opheim Lutheran Church.

Jody was born June 26, 1929,in Helena, Mont., the daughter ofJames Paul Martin and Lorna BelleHallock.  She attended first and secondgrade in Norris, Mont., thirdthrough sixth grade in Great Falls,seventh and eighth grades inPortland, Ore, ninth through 11thgrades in Opheim, and 12th gradein St. Ignatius, Mont., when shereceived her GED in 1979. She alsoattended Salish Kootenai College inthe 80s, studying early childhooddevelopment course (Headstart).  On Sept. 1, 1946, she marriedRex O’Neal Opheim in Glasgow.She was of the Lutheran faith andwas a Sunday School teacher whileraising her family; four sons and onedaughter. She was a member of theEastern Star in Opheim, the SeniorCenter in St. Ignatius (a quilter) andwas a member of the Riverton, Wyo.,

Senior Center (housing) socializingand volunteering services.  Jody enjoyed quilting, paintingpictures, sewing clothes for familyand making quilts for seniors. Shehad a passion for serving people.She managed the ENCO Clubkitchen at the Radar Station inOpheim, and was also a head cookat Glasgow Air Force Base. She

managed the Legion Club kitchenin Billings, was a Headstart teacherand cook at St. Ignatius, and created“Learning flannelgraphs and stories”for Headstart. She also enjoyedadventure such as snowmobiling,camping and hot air ballooning.  She was a lifelong resident

of Montana until she moved toRiverton in November, 2010, to livenear her daughter.  She was preceded in death byher husband, Rex; and her parents.  Survivors include four sons,Jerry Opheim and his wife, Vicki,of Billings, Jim Opheim of Glasgow,Mikel Opheim of Kalispell, andBerney Opheim of Missoula; a

daughter, Loni Freese and husband,erry, of Riverton; 12 grandchildren;21 great-grandchildren; and twogreat-great-grandchildren.  Memorials may be made toHelp for Health Hospice in care ofthe Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W.Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
