FOUNDATION SILENT AUCTION AT FAIR! The Delaware County 4-H Foundation’s annual silent auction raised $987.50 at the 2019 Delaware County Fair. Generous donations

for the auction were made by the following: Norm and July Voelker Family, Buffalo Belles & Boys 4-H Club, Milo Livestock 4-H Club,

Sara Kruse Family, Kendra Lux, Jennifer Zumbach Family, Hoptown Hurricanes 4-H Club (Kim Less), Bear Creek Levis-N-Lace 4-H

Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame The Delaware County 4-H

Youth Committee has

selected Steve Schwietert

for the 2019 Iowa 4-H

Hall of Fame . The induc-

tion ceremony will be held

on Sunday, August 18th

in the 4-H Exhibit Building

at the Iowa State Fair.

The Delaware County 4-H program has been a part of

Steve Schwietert’s life for many years, beginning as a

4-Her and continuing as a 4-H volunteer. Throughout

his 4-H career he exhibited registered Ayrshire dairy

at the Delaware County Fair and was also elected to

the Delaware County 4-H Youth Council and was a

member of the county Dairy Judging Team that repre-

sented Iowa at the national competition in 1981. Over

the years Steve has been a 4-H leader, first for the

Colesburg Livestock and later the Honey Creek Help-

ers, spent many years as a superintendent of the

Delaware County Fair 4-H & FFA Dairy Show, and for

the past 25 plus years has been serving on the Dela-

ware County Youth Committee. He is the extremely

proud father of three daughters Jill, Tara, and Ali who

were also nine year 4-H members and have contin-

ued being part of the organization as adults. Steve

and his wife Jill enjoy watching their grandkids begin

their 4-H journey as 4-H is one of the few organiza-

tions that multiple generations of one family can be

actively involved all at that same time.

COUNTY RECORDKEEPING AWARDS County awards are available to junior members for outstanding recordkeeping skills and to intermediate and senior members for project work.

To apply for these awards, fill out the front side of the awards application and include it inside the front cover of your recordbook before turning it in to your club leader. The club leader will complete the back before bringing the recordbook into the office by October 4. Fill out and attach the "Awards Consideration" form (on the bottom of this page) to the outside front cover of your record. Extra forms are available at the Extension Office.

These two sheets are required only if you apply for county awards.

For project awards, you must have records for at least two years including the current year because the committee needs to see growth in that project area. Project awards can be received only once as an intermediate and once as a senior. Juniors (4-6 graders) are encouraged to apply for special Junior Recordkeeping Awards but they are not eligible to apply for project awards.

4-H RECORD BOOKS DUE TO LEADERS BY SEPTEMBER 20!

4-H recordkeeping teaches the important life skill of keeping accurate records. Recordkeeping is an on-going process that doesn’t end when the 4-H year ends. 4-H recordkeeping should reflect the member’s

goals, accomplishments, and future plans. Forms are available online or at the Extension Office. If you have any questions on rec-

ord keeping please contact Kenzie!

4-Her’s are encouraged to develop a system that includes: Records for one or more projects, Completion of Yearly Summary, and

Self evaluation.

Tabs can help you find what you’re looking for quickly. Arrange your records with the most current material in the front. One way to

arrange could be:

1. Expected Standards for Delaware County 4-H program

2. 4-H Yearly Summary

3. General clippings and photographs

4. Project A

• Current Year Project record

• Current Year Project clippings and photographs

• Previous Year’s Project record/worksheets

• Previous Year’s Project clippings and photographs

5. Project B, C, D, etc. Arrange the same as Project A

6. Put records of non-current projects in the back of your record.

4-H RECORD FORMS ARE

AVAILABLE ONLINE!

If you prefer to use your computer

instead of a pen to complete your rec-

ord keeping forms, check out the web

site listed below. There are links for all
