August 1, 2016 Step by Step will officially open our new classes. Our annual inspection will be sometime in August by the Department of Health and Senior Services. Congratulations to Paige Scott! She is expecting a baby boy in September. To help her celebrate, Step By Step is putting together a baby basket. Paige is registered at Babies R Us and Amazon. The basket will be in the Foyer for you to drop off your baby gift from July 25th through August 26th. She will receive the basket August 29th, 2016.
Thank you.
If you've been following the church on Facebook, you'll know that the mission trip to Be-lize is fast approaching. After the team's bags are packed and the final funds are sub-mitted for the trip and lodging, the team asks those staying at home to pray continually for them. As you say your 8:00 pm prayer, pray for us. As you pray in the morning, pray for us. Whenever one of us comes to mind, pray for us. If you are on Facebook, ask your family and friends to pray for us. We will have a mission committee meeting Sunday afternoon, August 21, at 1:00. Both mission team members and mission committee members are urged to attend.

August 2016 Mary Lou’s Message Last night I had the privilege to participate in a community prayer service for our Police, Sherriff’s Dept., Highway Patrol, and other Civic leaders. It was good to come together with the community and other pastors of the area to pray. I am sorry that it took tragedy to bring us together to do this. I was pleased at the number of people who came out on such a hot evening to pray. We have decided that we need to get together maybe once a quarter to pray together. God listens when we pray in Unity! The next time we pray together we are going to focus on our Fire Dept. and our Emergency Personnel. These are all people we should pray for regularly.
On the 7th of August a team from our church is going to Belize to help complete a high school for the Methodist Mission in Belmopan. It is my understanding that most children in Belize do not have access to schools. For them, education is a luxury! We are so fortunate in our country that education is a requirement. We do not appreciate just what we have. I am excited that the team will be a part of something that will help kids be able to learn in a Christian environment so they can go on to be leaders and help the Kingdom of God to grow and help Belize to be a better place to live. Please be praying for the team’s preparation and trip.
On Wednesday evenings at 6:00, we have been having a prayer service. Through the years, I have been to prayer meetings where we have done anything but pray. However, on Wednesday evenings, we pray through scripture, songs, silently, and through words. No one is put on the spot. I invite you to come pray with us. If you can’t come be with us, please pray where ever you are.
This month, please join together where ever you are to pray at 8:00pm every night this prayer:
Lord we ask that you help the school at Belmopan to be completed in time for the students to start school this fall. We ask that you would empower each student, teacher and administrator with your Spirit.
If you’ve noticed, I’ve been talking about prayer a lot lately. I have felt God directing me more and more to prayer. It is to be the foundation of everything else we do. It is not to be an afterthought. The promise is that if we seek God first in everything we do, God will supply all our needs. God says to put Him to the test. Faith is sometimes difficult. We want what we want…and we want it now! We want to be in control and we want everything laid out before we get started. Sometimes God works like that, but more often than not, waiting is involved and so is stepping out in faith… starting to walk before we see the evidence. God is faithful! God will keep His promises! I am amazed at how God works. God works in ways that are outside my imagination. God has resources that we know nothing about. Our part is to seek God and God’s righteousness and to trust. That starts with spending time with God in prayer.
Grace & Peace,
Mary Lou
