Continuous improvements in the SINAMICS S120 to operate large drives

New mode for autotracking of the ramp function generator (RFG)

The new mode of the RFG autotracking improves the behavior of the RFG while operating at torque-/ power-/ current limits

• In the past: during a torque-peak the speed drops down. After that, the drive speeds up again to the set point on the current limitation.

• New: after activation of the new mode (P1151 Bit1), the speed set point will be adapted next to the actual value. Afterwards, the drive speeds up at ramp up curve.

New operating mode for synchronous motors with separate excitation:

The new operating mode provides the operation of synchronous motors with separate excitation with HTL encoder and VSM only.

Identification & maintenance data (I&M data)

I&M data are used for fast and standardized identification of a drive and supply all the key data required for maintenance and even replacement of that drive. When requested, the drive transfers its I&M data to a higher-level controller or to a PC/PG with installed engineering software, e.g. STEP 7, STARTER, or TIA-Portal.

Function:

On request, the I&M data are transmitted to the higher-level controller acyclically in data sets.

Continuous improvement of Safety Integrated functions in SINAMICS S120

Usability improvements in S120:Automatically executed test stop during startup of the Control Unit (can be parameterized) The test stop of the Extended Safety Functions as well as F-DI/DO can be executed automatically during the startup of the CU, thus complying the normative requirements for preventive fault detection.

Homing on the fly together with SLPThis enables the use of incremental encoders together with SLP. The drive/axis must be at status “stand still” when the PLC hands over the homing position value to the safety SW in the drive.

Simplification and unification of component replacement with axis granular acknowledgement

This functions can currently be used via expert list only. With Starter V4.4 SP1 (End of 2014) also a graphical configuration will be supported.
