Students are expected to be properly prepared for class each day.
This course requires a high level of student participation. Therefore, students should be highly
motivated and willing to do more outside reading and research as part of the learning process.
Being prompt and bringing needed materials are expected behaviors and should not become an
issue. Active participation in the class discussions and group activities is required.
Class Rules and Expectations: 1. Enter classroom and be ready to participate.
2. Contribute to daily discussion/lesson before launching into your work.
3. Do not tamper with or abuse equipment, software, or network.
4. Respect others and their property.
5. End the class period by logging out of the network, turning off your computer, and
cleaning your assigned area.
6. Obey all rules as outlined in the WISD Student Handbook.
CLASS WORK/HOMEWORK POLICY: It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of
assignments. Most work will be completed in class. If a student needs more time to complete an
assignment, it must be done outside of class in a timely manner, or the student must contact the
teacher to set alternate times to complete work that fit the teacher/student. Homework is rarely
assigned due to possible computer/software complications at home.
MAKE-UP WORK: It is the responsibility of the student to get all assignments after returning
from an absence. Students with excused or extracurricular/co-curricular absences will be
allowed to make up the work they have missed. Each student will be given no less than the
number of days missed for the make-up. Students are encouraged to complete their missed
assignments as quickly as possible. In the event an assignment was given in advance with a
specific due date and the student is absent the day the assignment is due, it will be due the day
the student returns. Students who will be absent for school events (athletics, band, stock shows,
etc.) should ask for assignments in advance. If a test is being given while the student will be out
for an extracurricular/co-curricular absence, the student may be given the opportunity to take the
test prior to being absent.
TARDIES: A student will be marked tardy for class if they are not inside of the classroom
when the tardy bell rings.
LATE WORK: Students will learn how to meet deadlines. Work is due on the assigned date.
However, students will be allowed to turn in late work with penalty. After one day, the
assignment can receive no higher than a 70. After two days, the assignment can receive no
higher than a 50. Beyond two days the assignment will receive a zero.
EXTRA CREDIT: Students who are in need of extra credit will be given ample opportunities to
do so. It is the responsibility of the student to approach the teacher in order to be given extra
credit assignments. All assignments must be completed in the allotted time agreed upon by the
student and teacher.
TUTORIALS: Tutorial times are available every day upon request. Please see Coach
Dydalewicz to schedule a time that is best for you.
COMPUTER CARE: The computers in this room are the property of the school. It is each
student’s responsibility to maintain his or her computer station. DO NOT write on the computer,
mouse pad, or desk. DO NOT change the settings or features on the computer. Each day check
your work area when you get to class. Notify the teacher immediately if any changes have
occurred. Any student marking or damaging will be responsible for cleaning marred surfaces or
make restitution for any damages. DO NOT bring any food or drinks into the classroom. If
you have a water bottle, it must be kept in your backpack at your desk.
Radios, Ipod’s/MP3 players, Other electronic devices and Games: Students are not
permitted to use or reveal such items as radios, Ipods/MP3 players, listening devices, tape
recorders, camcorders, DVD players, cameras, electronic devices or games during the
instructional/class period, unless prior permission has been obtained from the teacher. Without
such permission, the teacher will collect the items and turn them in to the principal’s office.
CELL PHONES: Students may have cell phones while on school property or while attending
school-sponsored or school-related activities, but must have them turned off and not displayed
during the instructional/class period unless otherwise stated by the teacher.
School Policies:
Students are subject to all academic policies of the school as printed in the Academic
Catalog and Student Handbook. Furthermore, it is each student’s responsibility to read
and follow all academic policies of the school.
Tips for the Students:
It is essential that students understand that this class will have a profound effect on their
growth as an overall student. Students will acquire skills in this course that will help them
produce higher profile work for other classes they will take at WHS, as well as their
future years of higher education and in the workplace. PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE: Parent feedback and questions are welcome. To
