Which of the following mastheads do you prefer?

This is the first question I asked, I wanted to get an idea of what masthead would actually appeal to my target audience, 10/30 people said they preferred ‘Pop Burst’, 5/30 people preferred ‘Pop Whizz’ and the majority preferred ‘Pop United’ with 15/30 people choosing it. This helped me to make a decision as to what my masthead for my front cover would be, as the majority picked ‘Pop United’ that indicated to me to be the best masthead to use for a Pop magazine.

Which of the colouring combinations do you prefer?

This is the second question I asked, I needed ideas as to what colour combinations people would like to see on my magazine, 14/30 people said they preferred ‘Orange & Pink’, 7/30 people preferred ‘Purple & White’ and 3/30 people picked ‘Pink & Purple’. Using this data, I was able to choose a colour scheme that I know would appeal to my target audience, which is ‘Orange & Pink’

This is the third question I asked, I wanted to see what my target audience thought was the right price for my Pop magazine, 10/30 people said they preferred the magazine to be ‘£1.00’, 17/30 people preferred the magazine to be ‘£1.25p and 3/30 people preferred the price to be ‘£1.50’ From this I was able to recognize which price would suit my target audience which is £1.25p

What sell line would appeal to you the most?

This is the fourth question I asked, I wanted my sell line to be something that actually interests my target audience, thus why I asked this type of question. 12/30 people said ‘How to dress like Rita Ora’ would appeal to them the most, 11/30 said ‘What’s the latest with Justin and Selena’ would appeal to them the most and 7/30 people said ‘Rihanna’s secret admirer?’ would appeal to them the most. Since the most popular sell line is ‘How to dress like Rita Ora’ I decided to use that as a sell line for my front cover.

This is the fifth question I asked, I wanted to see what freebie would appeal the most to my target audience. 21/30 people said ‘Free poster of One Direction’ would appeal to them the most, 7/30 people said ‘Free charm bracelet inside’ would appeal to them the most and 2/30 people said ‘Free scented notepad inside’ would appeal to them the most. From this data, I came to the conclusion that using ‘Free poster of One Direction’ would attract my target audience the most.

Which form of competition appeals to you the most?

This is last question I asked, what form of competition you include in your front cover is important it needs to grab the target audience’s eye, that’s why I asked this question as I wanted a clear idea. 5/30 people said ‘Win 2 Justin Bieber Concert Tickets’ would appeal to them the most, 19/30 people said ‘Win 2 One Direction Concert Tickets’ would appeal to them the most, and 6/30 people said ‘Win 2 Rihanna Concert Tickets’ would appeal to them the most. From this there was a clear winner, which was ‘Win 2 One Direction Concert Tickets’ Therefore I decided to take this on board and use it on my front cover.
