Attaching a Resume*
and sending it in an Email *or any other kind of file

Have your Resume/File ready
• Make sure the resume/file is saved either
– on a USB/Flash/Thumb drive
– on the hard drive of the computer on which you are working • “My Documents” (if your Operating
System is XP or older)
• “Documents: My Documents” (if your Operating System is newer than XP)

Login to your Email account
• Open an internet browser.
• Login to your email account.
(Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Chrome)

Start a new Email message
• Click on COMPOSE

Attach your Resume/File
• It does not matter what kind of file you are attaching – it could be a Word file, a music file, a PDF, PowerPoint, photograph, etc. – the procedure for attaching a file is always the same: Click on the paperclip icon

Find the File you want to Attach
• In Google’s Gmail, once you click on the paperclip, a box will appear
– Find your file. It should be saved on the hard drive or in a USB/Flash drive.
1. Use the “Look in:” dropdown box to get to the right place.

Your File is now Attached It now displays the name (and type) of the attached file, as well as how large it is (21K). If you want to attach another file, simply click on the paperclip icon once more and go through the same process of looking for the file (seen on the previous page). If you don’t want to send that file, simply click on the “X” to the right of the file name to delete the attachment.

If you want to attach another file, simply click on the paperclip icon once more and go through the same process of looking for the file (seen on the previous page). If you don’t want to send that file, simply click on “Remove” to delete the attachment.
