SCOVIS
SCOVIS will significantly improve the versatility and the
performance of the current monitoring systems for security purposes
and workflow control in critical infrastructures.SCOVIS will
investigate weakly supervised learning algorithms and
self-adaptation strategies for analysis of visually observable
workflows and behaviors. SCOVIS research links object learning
using low-level object descriptors and procedure learning with
adaptation mechanisms and active camera network coordination under
a synergistic approach that combines largely unsupervised learning
and model evolution in a bootstrapping process; SCOVIS involves
continuous learning from visual content in order to enrich the
models and, inversely, the direct use of these models to enhance
the extraction.

Project Abstract
SCOVIS self adaptable framework
Four research WPs
*Barcelona, October 10th 2008
SCOVIS
The SCOVIS overall approach consists of five main design and
implementation objectives:To detect salient objects in a scene,
both static and moving and track them through time, under an
attention modeling framework. To create a network of cameras for the
understanding of the events and behaviors using cameras with
overlapping or disjoint views and active cameras. To model and
understand automatically the workflows/procedures executed in a
workplace in case of a single actor (agent) or for multiple ones
and to provide error correction mechanisms. To let the system learn
from online input, by endowing it with self evolution and
adaptation mechanisms using semi-supervised learning approaches and
relevance feedback. To evaluate all the above functionalities using
appropriate datasets in a common testbed, so that the merits of
their synergy can be exploited in real world scenarios.
Overall Strategy
*Barcelona, October 10th 2008
SCOVIS
A methodology for largely unsupervised learning of salient
objects, implemented as an open architecture. A methodology and an
open architecture for large-scale camera networks. A toolkit for
weakly supervised learning and object detection. (Component 1)A
toolkit for camera network coordination. (Component 2)A toolkit for
behavior analysis. (Component 3) A toolkit for adaptation
mechanisms. (Component 4)A testbed which will integrate all above
toolkits and will demonstrate the benefits of the proposed
synergies. (managed by Atos )
Expected Outcome
*Barcelona, October 10th 2008
SCOVIS
SCOVIS will focus on procedures control. SCOVIS includes an
end-user (NMISA- Nissan Motor Iberica S.A.) to validate the results
of the project in a real world scenario on procedure control
especially in the area of automotive manufacturing. The scenario
domain selected is an specific area within the Manufacturing Cell
in NMISA facilities.SCOVIS will focus to monitor certain assembly
activities during the manufacturing automotive process.
Application Domain and Evaluation
*Barcelona, October 10th 2008
SCOVIS
SCOVIS performance environment will be an specific area within
NMISA cars factorySCOVIS will focus its monitoring and surveillance
process to control the stock replacement during a certain assembly
process within the whole manufacturing automotive process. When an
abnormal situation (during this process) happened SCOVIS system
will be able to detect and alert this event by throwing a warning
message. An abnormal situation could be represented by:Lack of cars
part.Problems during the supply process.Bad cars part
manipulation.

SCOVIS
Object detection and tracking, Consistent monitoring, Behaviour analysis, Adaptation, Integration platform and User interface, will be merged in order to have a common view of the architecture, and being able to interoperate among the different tasks over the work packages.
The process of designing so will be iterative and self-adaptive
to the requirements of the interfaces of the subsystems in a
distributed way.
Evaluation Architecture Design

Evaluation Architecture Design Main Tasks
1. To create a data set to be used for system
evaluation.
2. To define the application scenario.
3. To define the evaluation architecture.
4. To implement and evaluate the scenario by integrating the
individual tools.
