DID YOU KNOW?

Having access to safe and sufficient water and sanitation are now recognized as a basic human right.

Without food, human beings can live for 14 days or more

Human body can only survive a few days without

water

DID YOU KNOW?

One billion people worldwide live without clean, safe drinking waterTwo billion live without basic sanitation

Page 5: Atmospheric Water harvesting

So, how do you make sure they get pure drinking water that satisfies all their basic needs at low environmental impact?

THEN - FOG HARVESTING

However, it is not always suitable or practical, especially in dry and arid areas. This is where more modern techniques can be considered.

Fog fences are used to collect water from the humidity in the fog. It uses a mesh material strung tightly on poles, supported by gutter to collect droplets, fed into pipes, and then stored in tanks.

NOW - ATMOSPHERIC WATER GENERATOR

An atmospheric water harvester or atmospheric water generator (AWG) is a electricity-powered device that uses the dehumidification principle to make drinking water out of the moisture in the air.

Page 10: Atmospheric Water harvesting

ATMOSPHERIC WATER GENERATORS (AWG)

Produce more water in places with higher temperatures and humid climates

Need air with its trapped moisture to generate water

Need electricity (which can be obtained from the main power grid or solar panels, wind turbine)

Are sustainable, reliable, and produces potable water without complicated installation

WORKING OF AWG

Page 13: Atmospheric Water harvesting

APPLICATIONS OF AWGRestaurants, bars, hotels, where copious amounts of clean water is required use AWG

Office environments that use bottled water units can do away with plastics when replaced with AWG

Remote locations, island resorts, mining sites, and instances where water scaling is an issue, use AWG

LIKELY SCENARIOS

• In such cases like, natural disasters and epidemics, the availability of AWGs can be timely in saving lives and improving sanitary conditions

• Disaster management organisations specify drinking water as a top priority to maintain good health

Portability, reliability of AWGs in generating pure drinking water will prove to be a vital technological intervention in sustaining lives and

health

BENEFITS OF AWG1 • Highly portable, economical and easy to maintain

2 • No expensive piping infrastructure investment is needed

3 • Easy installation

4 • No conventional water source required

5• Needs only to plug into electrical socket to generate fresh, pure

water

6 • Convenient, dependable, and safe

7 • Gives you total control over your water needs

3 KEY TAKEAWAYSDespite widespread water pollution and shortages of drinking water, there is an

abundance of water around us

Water harvesting generators are the most environmentally

friendly way to extract pure quality water from the air at a

low cost

With emerging technologies, AWGs are now commercially available and mostly scalable

depending on need and location
