Scope of Inspection:
An API 653 In-service external visual inspection was performed on 02/10/2021.
Equipment Access:
This tank was located in the basement of the No. 2 paper machine starch unit. The inspection was conducted from the ground level and adjacent platforms provided.
Summary of Results :
An API 653 In-service External Visual inspection was performed on all 34-2173components. The lower shell was observed to have an insulation jacked that was free of distortions. Other than minor product buildup from adjacent production the roof, nozzle, and shell were observed to be in good condition. The tanks foundation exhibited cracking, spalling, and exposed rebar. No grounding was observed at this time. No nameplate was observed at this time. Due to the configuration of the surrounding area accessibility was difficult and visual inspection was limited to the shell and roof. The carbon steel tank was free of bulges and blisters with no deformation present to tank. See recommendation and photos for details. There were no major findings that would render the tank unfit for continued service.
Engineering Calculations
Engineering calculations performed to determine minimum thickness required, corrosion rate, and remaining life in accordance with the requirements of API 653. No construction drawing was available design calculations were not provided.

Action Items PriorityRework concrete for tank supports 2
Priority 1 = High likelihood and consequence of failure. Critical code or standard deficiency. May not be fit for continued service without action.Priority 2 = Medium likelihood and consequence of failure. Repair may be needed for continued effective service.Priority 3 = Low likelihood and consequence of failure. Non-critical code or standard deficiency. Industry best practice or preventative maintenance. Housekeeping items.
Next Recommended Inspection:
Based on the continued use in this service and due to findings in above report it is recommended:*Due to the lack of design data, WestRock Guidelines should be followed to obtain more thickness readings to determine CR-RL and Tmin calculations
