West Buckland School at Barnstaple is close by with a daily bus service
from Braunton. It is well respected and offers nursery, preparatory and
senior education for children from the ages of 3 to 18.
Shopping
The village of Croyde, also a popular surfing beach, has a number
of pubs and shops suitable for everyday amenities. The renowned
gastro-pub, The Rock, is 3 miles away at Georgeham whilst more
extensive shopping can be found in the nearby towns of Braunton
and Barnstaple, which has a shopping mall, Green Lanes, a daily
pannier market and a leisure centre. Exeter is just over 1 hour’s drive
away which has a wide selection of all the familiar high street brands.
Golf
Saunton Golf Club is nearby and is regarded as one of the best links
courses in the country.
Surfing and other watersports
Few UK beaches can match the raw beauty of the North Devon
Coast. As well as being a world class family beach, Saunton is also
renowned for some of the best surf in the country. Backing onto the
Atlantic, a good swell can produce line after line of beautiful long
slow rollers that prove to be an irresistible draw for long boarders
from all over the country. In addition to surfing there are many other
sporting activities that take place on Saunton beach; kite surfing,
kayaking and paddle boarding to name a few.
Travel by Car
The North Devon link road, only a few miles away passing through
Barnstaple and Tiverton, provides access to the M5 Motorway and
national network at Exeter.
Travel by Train
The mainline railway station at Tiverton Parkway provides an inter-
city rail service to London Paddington (2 hours, 5 minutes).
Travel by Air
Exeter Airport is just of an hour’s drive away and offers a number of
regular daily flights to most European Cities. It also caters for private
and chartered jets and helicopters too.

Directions (EX33 1PA): From Junction 27 on the M5 take the scenic A361 towards
Barnstaple. On the outskirts of Barnstaple, take the first exit at the roundabout,
continuing along the A361 in the direction of Bideford. At the third roundabout take
the second exit following signs for Braunton still on the A361. Go over the new River
Taw bridge to the next traffic lights and turn left still following signs for Braunton.
Continue west towards Braunton. Head straight on at the roundabouts to the traffic
lights in the centre of Braunton. Take a left turn onto Caen Street towards Croyde.
Continue straight on along this road past the Saunton Sands Hotel into the village
of Croyde. In the centre of Croyde, with Blue Groove Cafe on your left, take a left
turn onto Jones’ Hill. Continue along this road and take the first left onto Moor
Lane. Continue for approximately ¾ of a mile leaving Croyde Beach to your left and
passing Sandleigh National Trust Tearooms on your right and the National Trust
car Park on your right. The entrance to Atlantis Lodge is through a gated pillared
entrance on the seaward side just before you reach Baggy Point.
